There probably will be a gay male winner at some point but no one will realise because most people don't define themselves by their sexuality. I think Sebalter this year was gay?

Is he? I remember him heavily flirting with Kasey Smith :'D

agreed! but the fact, that you don't like drag acts, does not reduce neither toms gayness nor his manhood.

I never said i dont like Drag acts, but for the next year if a LGBT singer wins ESC, i hope this time for a hot male singer with a good song like Ricky Martin for example :p;)

You know, I was at first very disappointed at this topic.

Even if I'd love to see a big bunch of bubbleboys on stage, who cares! ESC is NOT a gay festival and it must not become one. It happens that gay fans adore the competition, but it is NOT a gay festival. It's a MUSIC competition and an occasion for all countries in Europe to get acquainted, regardless of their sexual orientation. I don't even want ESC to become a gay festival, why create another ghetto? It's all about mutual understanding and in this job Conchita has done the best up to now. Let her do the talking from now on, and let's just enjoy the show... I want good songs to listen to, happy people to hang out with and no worries around

btw. any gossip about Ott Lepland? :xrofl2

I'm straight and I don't discriminate gay people, but I have to say that being defined as a gay or drag music festival will only harm the development of Eurovision Contests, and the participating broadcasters should really not hold the idea that selecting (moreover, internally) a gay, lesbian, transsexual or drag person will make them gain a fame of promoting equal rights and thus easier to get votes and win.

What was the subject of this topic, again ? xhmmm

Well, even Jean-Claude Pascal, winner in 1961 for :lu: and 2nd male act to win Eurovision was notably homosexual and the lyrics of "Nous les amoureux" are reported to be a gay anthem...
And even André Claveau, the first male Eurovision winner in 1958 for :fr: has been officially a single man all his life, and was undoubtedly homosexual as well...

So it's not a big deal and a new thing !

I wait for the info that Marcel Bezençon was a gay :p
Anyway, I don't care if 2015 winner will be homosexual/drag queen or not. If song and performance will be awesome (like this year), I will fully identify with winning act ;)

They are not gay and we can't find any info about it, without speculations.. and unfortunately, both singers are two meters below ground to give any information on their sexuality

The people voted for the most sophisticated composition though so i'm ok with it. Conchita went from being someone incredibly slated by actual fans of the contest to a favourite as soon as the song was revealed, thanks to the fact it was actually good. I'd say it's the finest piece of music that has won in years and years and years. Conchita doesn't exactly have the best voice ever though, that's undeniable, but it was just great to have something really grand and ballsy win for a change. The message of the song of course comes into play but it was a damn good piece of music too. If she sung the same empowering lyrics to some trashy eurobeat, I doubt she would have come anywhere near winning.. in fact, she'd have probably stayed in the semi's. It was the whole package she had. Classy song, empowering lyrics and true conviction and belief in it's message.

Sorry, but your argument does not convince me..:?

She (He) won't won because of that song.. If was by the song herself then Conchita had to have finished 4th after of Sweden, Armenia and the Netherlands who after this year contest the Common Linnets topped every European chart, and i doubt that the people was voted Conchita if she was not to vindicate gay rights and all that for get attention.. and now that she opened the door to a future gay & Lgbt generation singers to win Eurovision, the Europeans will get out their most hypocritical face to say this is not a gay festival when its obvious that mostly of their fans (include me) are gay, and now says that the sexuality dosen't matter to win..? I'm not eating this story..

I wasn't really putting forward an argument. Just an opinion that it was a package Conchita had. If the song was lousy then she wouldn't have won. Music is something very subjective. It's pretty much a fact that there will never be a universally liked winner of the contest. Many where impressed by "Rise Like A Phoenix" when it was revealed. The general consensus was people being shocked at how good the song actually turned out.

The person buying songs from iTunes (which pretty much create the charts) is a very different person to whom is sitting in their armchair, watching the contest for the first time. Sweden, Armenia and Netherlands sent all very commercial pop songs so all where bound for chart success and strong popularity with a younger audience. Conchita's song appealed to all ages. My 87 year old Grandma for instance, couldn't stop talking about how beautiful the song was for weeks after. It's not exactly a "cool" song though, so I can see why it didn't set the charts alight.

I'm not denying that the image, the shock value and the message of the song played a huge part.. because it did. The song however was just as important. The win was shocking to many but I actually sensed it the day it was revealed as the piece of music was just so powerful. It may have been a victory for equality but it was also a victory for a good piece of music winning and I just hope it continues next year. Gay, straight, asexual, transexual, bisexual.. I don't care, so long as the good music keeps coming.

By the way, I'm waiting for a thread named "Will a heterosexual girl (Feminine) will win Eurovision the next year or future?"

I thought Marija Serifovic was a lesbian?

And yes this is such a stupid question if Europe votes a transsexual male as #1 in the final (including the jury) then so can any gender, age or sexuality or skin color
