Some people mix up what they believe that will happen with what they want to happen!

Exactly, and that´s what´s many swedish fans who cover ESC each year as press has said for some years now and I got a taste of that last year in Eurovision Village during semi 2 as well, it´s disgusting.

For example, the :ch: song this year is very good but would it have got all the love it now has if it would have competed for us? I highly doubt that

I do believe that too! The same applies for several entries of other countries like San Marino! If San Marino's song was sent by any other country i'm sure that most people would talk for a joke entry!

it absolutely would because people in the "sweden is the best!!" camp are still plenty and even if it didn't it would be fine because this is a contest and that wouldn't be an actual indictment sweden as a country =) people have different perceptions for different countries and that is natural, expected and absolutely normal and it's infinitely rich to me that swedes are the biggest whiners about it when they are absolutely one of the biggest beneficiaries of flag perception

literally any entry would be seen as a better contender for victory and of "better quality" with sweden's flag on top of it, it would get more benefit of doubt from juries for that, but i guess some people on the internet complaining about sweden outweighs all of that!!! SWEDEN HATE IS BAD BECAUSE NOBODY SHOULD HATE SWEDEN IN EUROVISION EVER THAT MATTERS MORE THAN ACTUAL RESULTS.

(john absolutely without a doubt qualifies, by the way. he would advance for any flag, let alone sweden.)

Fighting for the Semi Win
:az: :nl: :am:

Pretty Set
:se: :ru: :ch:

Borderline + (C) DaFlo
:mk: :lt: :al:

Borderline - (C) DaFlo

Don’t Count Out Figuratively (Romania & Austria could've gone here, and these could've gone above. The line between the two categories is very blurred in this semi.)

WHEW so overall these predictions vs. the odds makes it look like I've taken my fair share of crazy pills for the day. I was writing a whole bunch of spiel to avoid waking up to "Notifications: 23 New Post Quotes," but I think I'll just let it happen :p

Excuse me but why is Israel in this post? They won last year. Automatic qualifier. And where is Ireland?

the running order does not change the fact that this semi has 12 clear advancing contenders but things just got intetesting because of the paenda situation. i was already gradually moving to the "it qualifies" side, but the draw sealed it, i think :at: has a good chance to impress and go through.

before the order i was thinking it was :az: that would die to let :at: in, but then he got to close the semi. i still don't have any confidence in calling the second odd man out in this semi, but it looks more likely to be :lt:. yes, they have all their point givers in the semi and they have advanced with much worse songs, but i don't think that will be enough to overcome the huge competition and bad draw. then again, he does have a revamp to show us.......

everything else stays the same with some minor adjustments to flop potential (:am: is more likely, :ch: is less likely, etc), and i still think :mk:'s chance is too small because it would take too many countries wasting their chances. my prediction in order of likelihood is now :ru::nl::se::ch::no::mt::am::al::az::at: with :ro::lt: very close behind and able to blindside all but :ru::nl::se: and the other six likely not making it.

The 2nd half is just

My 3 favourite entries of the year are 14, 15, 16 in this semi. I'm scared :(

Especially because of :al:... Smashed between Russia and Norway... Honestly, I don't like Russian entry but I understand why people like it...

Hope juries save Albania :?

I think there are going to be a lot of surprises this year, both in Semi 1 and semi 2. Some countries are quite sure they're going to qualify (in this semi: Sweden, Netherlands, Russia) but then there are a lot of borderline entries that will really depend on staging, live vocals and sheer luck aka politics.

After running order
95% sure: Sweden, The Netherlands and Russia. Would be really surprice if not all qualifly
85% sure: Azerbaijan last song. Better songs than Aisel last year.
85% sure: Armenia Going to get many points from televoting and probably ok from jury too
----------- First 5 really good chance

70% sure: Switzerland Well if he sings well and the stage is not awful. I think Switzerland will have a great chance to qualifly
65% sure: Malta Jurycountry. Think Jury will like this and the songs will probably get some televoting points too
----------- This songs has good chance to qualifly

55% sure: Lithuania Well them going to get 12 from UK, Ireland and perhaps 10 from Norway/Latvia. Also good chance to get points from Russia, Netherlands, Sweden, Denmark and perhaps Germany/ Malta/ Azerbaijan/ Armenia. If jury don,t vote this Down. I think televoting will save this
50% sure: Norway Well we are popular in jury voting and since 2013 we only fall 1 time. Probably going to score ok/good from televoting
50% sure: Denmark. Cute entry with a ok startnumner. Would not be surprice if jury and Televoting
---------- Boderline +

49% sure: Romania Could easy qualifly. Still think televoting could send this home. My 11
45% sure: Albania Jury could save this, but Albania don,t qualifly often and i think televoting will send this home
40% sure: Croatia This could easy be a shock qualifly, but this semifinal is strong
30% sure: Macedonia Good running order, but Macedonia get nearly always overrathed by the fans and bad staging. Think this could end with that
----------- boderline -

25% sure: Austria many strong West Europe country. Think this will not stand out, but jury could save it
25% sure: Moldova thinks this will end up like falling stars. It won,t stand out
20% sure: Latvia Well Latvia have never qualifly With song like this. It won,t stand out i,m afraid
----------- small chances

10% sure: Ireland Horrible startnumber and so many West europe With strong song. Would be a big surprice if this qualifly. Only chance would be Amazing staging
----------- need a miracle

At the moment I predict :se: :mk:  ::ne :am: :az: :ro: :mt: :ru: :ch: will qualify. Am I the only one though who thinks Sweden might flop though? Honestly I feel the song is nice but it gives me Berghendal vibes. I feel it's most likely to be a shock NQ, another one being Armenia.

Tumblr, mostly.
Not much has changed in this semi for me. The only difference between now and my previous assesment is that Srbuk and Chingiz have swapped tiers (They're now BL+ and QF respectively). That's it, rly!

It's still a really difficult semi to gauge though, because there are too many question marks. Austria and Malta specifically could still go either way and I have a gut feeling at least one of them fizzles out and NQs. Romania could have a glow up again. Albania could be impressive. Denmark is still out there with a shot (for some godforsaken reason), even NMacedonia could scrape by if many of the borderlines end up being underwhelming.

right now (03/04) I would guess the ten qualifiers are: :ru:, :se:, :nl:, :az:, :ch:,, :al:, :mk:, :dk:, :am:, I think?
:at:, :mt: & :ro: could sneak in there if they impress during rehearsals. The rest are dead.
