I think Istanbul's presentation was perfect, the focus was youth not just unity. They brought 20 young people which sat on the place of diplomats. Almost all questioners appreciated it as an excellent presentation.

Saying their games would be the cheapest ones is just not true and everybody knows that.

Well it might be true, because all transportations projects and airport project are built whether Istanbul is going to host or not Olympics. As a matter of fact, some of them are about to finish. 17 billion dollar of Turkey's bid is these transportation and airport projects.

It looks Tokyo is in the lead, but everything is so close and I think most Madrid's and Istanbul's supporters would vote for the other in case one of these cities falls in the first round. So Tokyo has a tough voting although they are the faves.

I agree with that.

They got permission from IOC to settle these young Turkish people to the place of diplomats. The slogan was that olympics are for them. as half of Turkish society is younger than 25 currently.

So until now, Madrid's presentation, the claim is following:

"We have the best plan, most of things has been done, everything is existing, we don't need to pay much money, no need to plan the dreams."

Madrid's hosting seems a less risky one maybe, but does not offer a new excitement.

Madrid was eliminated in the first round, Tokyo and Istanbul are left standing. The second round ballot has just ended

Madrid xcrossed

According to the press here, Madrid's the frontrunner too.

And the MHIY curse strikes again.

I'm glad it isn't Madrid, hope Tokyo get it.

Congratulations Tokyo!

Not sure if a country with radioactive pollution is the best host, but IMO the three cities had important problems and would not have a chance any other year.

Another slap in the face for Madrid (third in a row) and, again, IOC voting is much more political and corrupt than the ESC one, but well, we all knew that.
Now we will have to find something else to recover the illusion in Madrid and it will be really hard to find it :(

So this proves the "Different continent" thing is true.
2024 Olympics could well be hosted in Europe, however I'm not sure if Madrid will bid. I don't want my country to be spitted at the face again. So I hope it'll be somewhere new like :tr: or :pt:
Once again it's shown that Spain is nowhere near important in the international geo-political scene (we all can see it every year in ESC)

I have to ask my city to bid for it. Ceuta 2024 xqueenbitch

It is really sad they gave the olypmics to a city which previously hosted it. Istanbul has been a capital for thousands of year, it had to have this opportunity before a city hosts it second time.

This is fifth slap on face for Turkey. It is really not a good message to the people of this geography. This time whole country made really a big effort for this. But still they did not open the olympics to new places. This is sad.

Domo harrigato Nippon:)!
It will be great Olympics I am sure!:)

One other plastic Asian organization. No offense, but I would prefer Madrid, if it was not Istanbul. For me, olympics is more culture and history, than technology. That's why London 2012 was one of the best olympics ever.

I always believe it should be award to the best candidate, I don't care what continent it is on, and whether they have previously hosted. Out of the 3, Istanbul was the one I really didn't want.
