Who says?

I've seen it loads of times on those package holiday adverts on telly with the likes of Thomas Cook etc. Spain is just meh now. It's Croatia they have been banging on about this summer. Apparently it's becoming more popular with Brits as a holiday destination, better make the most of it before the chav families trash it and turn Croatia into hell.

Ahh right. Beach holidays have never appealed to me but I would like to go to Croatia otherwise, it looks like a beautiful country :)
I guess it seems like 'further' away to us Westerners though, so I can understand your friends a bit :p

Desperately trying to persuade my friends to go on holiday to Croatia, but they're too scared. Acting like its Afghanistan or something. Croatia is like the country to go too this year.

You're more likely to get robbed/killed/raped in the UK. :'D Unless you join/offend Mafia or something. :?
But yeah recently there have been loads of summer festivals that Brits started, and their visitors are mainly Brits. ^^

People are just scared of what they don't know I think. and as MHIY said Croatia might seem a little too far from home for some. Which is a shame because I want to go, espeically before it turns into a new Ibiza/Ayia Napa.

I can't afford more travelling now, since I have to save money for Turkey next year, I've met many friends this year mainly from western Turkey and I want to visit them all :D

Drag them along! They'd be surprised at how safe and modern Croatia is.

I'm biased though, I probably love Croatia as much as (if not more than) Anastasia Vinnikova loves Belarus

------

I'm wanting to visit Warsaw, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Mongolia and Malaysia

My sister and I are planning to visit Vietnam and Thailand in 2 years, as a university graduation present for her

I never knew she loves Belarus... I wonder what gave you that impression?

I intend on trying to get them to go, I will never give up. One of my friends didn't even know it was in Europe. An example of what is wrong with the British education institution.

Once I've seen a meme - a facebook conversation of two people. One said he (or she, never mind) has just came back from Hungary. The other one aked him where exactly it is. The first one told 'in Europe' and then told where in Europe Hungary is and the stupid one (the second) said he didn't know what America is that big!

Some people are just ignorant...

I think most things like that are put on for the meme. I've seen one where there was a Pylon in the background and someone commented asking if they were in Paris, and another one I saw was one person said they had returned from Austria and someone corrected him saying " Do you mean Australia?" The first one said "No, Austria, its a country in central Europe." The second replied back with something like "haha Austria isn't a country, you mean Australia. It's not even in europe. Your geography is bad..."

I don't believe them to be real at all. No one is that stupid.

Sadly, I think that's common in the Anglosphere for some reason

Most of the people here think that Croatia is in Asia xrollinglol CroAsia is where in Asia? xrollinglol.

There was this one girl that I know, she studied International Relations and French at Cal/Berkeley (the most prestigious of all the University of California campuses), she insisted adamantly that Croatia, and the entire Yugoslavia, was part of the USSR. I was like guuuuurl, get outta here xrollinglol
