Isn't it great ? I'd love to go where you've been. :)
Did you find :mk: interesting ?

See.. I had been before many years and I dont remember a lot. However from the photos I can say that it's beautiful country. Also my mother's bf had been there before some months with her husband and they said it was amazing

Ok, :mk: is kinda mysterious to me. I hardly know anything about it and I may be tempted to visit it someday.

Is there any country in particular you'd like to go to?

That's a pretty nice aim. :ru: should be interesting on multiple aspects, plus it's a really big country, there must be a lot to do and see.
:by: can't tell about this one. I don't know what it looks like, but it's an interesting choice.
As to :ua:, yeah you'd better wait a little while, otherwise I don't doubt it's nice too.

Looking at going to another European city this month/next month... thinking Oslo, Copenhagen or Venice at the moment :p

But then come across dead cheap flights to New York, only £300 return  I feel scared to go to America alone though

Don't worry, There hasn't been any 'Taken' films set in America. You will be safe. The Americans are very welcoming people, When I went I said I was British on a plane, like every American within a 5/6 metre radius welcomed me to the country and hoped I had a good time, there was a lot of Americans (and a Canadian) in that radius welcoming me. It did scare me a little at first though.

seriously though, £300 isn't bad. Just the prices of hotels and things to do would worry me.

New York is a very nice city to visit. So much to do, and so much to see. I was there a few years ago, and it wasn't bad at all. New York today is much safer, and hardly reflective of what it used to be 20-30 years ago.

Like you say Ashley about the prices, I couldnt do it right now even though I do actually have enough saved... as Im not earning (unfortunately today I got rejected from the job I wanted ) But maybe it's something for next year :D

No doubt about it, Americans are some of the friendliest people on Earth. Pretty much everywhere in the country, people are friendly. Most people from Europe, especially Eastern Europe and the ex-Soviet space, are really taken aback by it. :p

Yes Europeans tend to be more reserved in their attitude and don't show much emotion compared to the Americans. It's a shame that their reputation labels them as socially and religiously backwards, especially compared to most Europeans. "Land of the free if you're a white adult male". Which really isn't as bad as people assume, just in the very rural Areas. it's still an amazing country to visit and I would go back anytime.

New York at 300 GBP is cheap! We pay close 600 USD to go to NYC and back (from an international airport close to my house) xfaint

As Ash and Haverdge have said, people from America are generally nice and warm. xyaay (tooting my own horn )
It's probably the best place to travel if you're alone because we love foreign people and getting to know foreign people :)
USA is much safer than what media portrays it to be. We're also not as violent as media portray us to be. You should be fine from a safety standpoint :)

I know!! :D Though it is with one of the cheap budget airlines we have over here... not British Airways or American Airlines  You pay for all extras like food onboard etc :p

Awh well Im assured that Americans dont bite then  Nah I know, Americans are awesome :D

Tbh out of the European places I've been the only city I dont think it would have been really comfortable on my own is Paris... I guess British+French = ultra reserved

And Im not worried about safety or that in America, it's just I've never travelled on my own before so it just seems like a bit scary to go so far the first time  Got to do it sometime though I suppose :D
I guess the cost of travel insurance would be quite a scary prospect too  I have epilepsy so I imagine it will be quite expensive for going to America :p

Hopefully I will have a job in not the too distant future and I can start saving up for it :D

Could you tell me which Airlines it is? I'm curious and wanna learn more about them :). But dang, no free food for a Trans-Atlantic flight?!

We look like we bite, but we don't  If you're traveling to USA for the first time, you'd probably be visiting big cities, so you'd have easy access to medical facilities if you needed it :)

If you're worried about travelling alone, there isn't much to worry about. It's probably the best thing out there for both introverts and extroverts alike. The best thing is that you don't have to worry about a companion, you just have to think about what you wanna do and when you wanna do it. You get to absorb the place you're visiting without having someone else's concerns in the back of your mind. There's no pressure from another person :D. Sometimes, being alone and doing things on your own pace is all you need to release whatever stress you have :D

Also, it's easier to meet locals and other travelers if you so desire, since you're not "shackled" to your companion. Personally, I prefer travelling alone because it's so relaxing and you get to meet people easily! xcheer

Maybe the only downside is that if something were to happen to you like a medical emergency or something like losing your passport(s), you'd have to rely on yourself and complete strangers you meet along the way. I'd say that's a minor downside because it's a rare occurence.

It's called Jet2  Most British people associate Jet2 with cheap package holidays to Spain or Greece but they started transatlantic flights last year and a Manchester-New York seems to be a scheduled service from Autumn-Spring now. Which is kinda good cuz I've always wanted to see the north east in 'fall, as the Yanks call it :D

Thanks for your advice, I could imagine that one of the big advantages like you say is that you dont feel shackled to someone lol. I guess I will manage to go eventually :p It would be fab, NY&Boston I have always dreamed of visiting :D

Desperately trying to persuade my friends to go on holiday to Croatia, but they're too scared. Acting like its Afghanistan or something. Croatia is like the country to go too this year.
