Also, I despise Mimi Webbs singing voice in that song tbh.

So Mimi Webb has dropped this out of no where…

It sounds like the sort of song TaP would go for - a jury pleaser, a solid sound and would fill an arena… there’s also plenty that can be condensed down to get it to the 3 minute mark!
It’s promotion for her album out soon it’s highly unlikely to be anything more.

Does anyone genuinely like the songs suggested so far because I don’t?

New Mimi Webb out today... video is 3:02....

I really loved that one.

The other suggested songs weren´t really my cup of tea ("Frankenstein" included) but "Red Flags" is great, imo.

I love how easy you make it sound cutting an almost 4-minute song down to 3 minutes.

But no, Mimi Webb, like Freya and Ellie, were pretty much confirmed to not be it a while back due to touring and such.

As someone who is currently suffering with Drag Race being cut from 60 to 40 minutes, I speak from experience :ROFLMAO:

I Hope the UK goes this year for a disco kitsch gay track. They are always way too serious, they really need to let It go and get crazy. But not "quality" crazy, just crazy crazy

Oh yeah, if there's a country that is in need to go back to being crazy crazy and completely ruin the small amount of credibility that the contest just started slowly building up a year ago there it's definitely the UK.

Why IS going crazy ruining credibility? I meant Verduska or whatever the name kind of crazy.

Why does the UK have to do it? Verka was 2007 and as much as I love her, the contest has moved on since then.

That song was political. The UK would be seen as taking the piss out the contest if they did anything like that.

There is a fine line between being "Crazy" yet enjoyable, and being "Crazy" and crap. Verka and Subwolfer were "Crazy" yet enjoyable. Think about how many acts have tried to be "Crazy" at the contest and crashed and burnt. The UK is just now starting to figure out how to not be crap. Anything more than that right now feels like too much of a gamble.

I think @DanielLuis already covered it with that response (lmao) but in all seriousness...

I truly believe you have to earn the right to send something where you let your hair down and have a bit of fun. Furthermore, you can send something "fun" that's still quality.

Take Verka for example. Silly? Of course. It doesn't mean it wasn't good, doesn't mean it didn't have styling, or a message, or represented Ukraine well. Ukraine won just a few years earlier on their second attempt, because fans took Ukraine seriously it means everyone took Verka as seriously as a fun entry could be taken.

And then there's the UK, for this example, I will use Electro Velvet. Now that was a bad entry, albeit it was saved slightly because it was entered in a ballad-heavy year. After finishing 25th, 11th, 25th, 19th and 17th in the 5 years before the UK hadn't earned the right to be silly. A ridiculous song like that becomes viewed by fans through the context of the UK finishing no higher than 11th in the few years before, and that's when a joke entry becomes laughed at rather than laughed with. The production on Electro Velvet was cheap, the singers felt like pub karaoke rather than seasoned performers.

Right now, the UK are in the Common Linnets year of their Anouk-styled revival, although Sam massively exceeded the Anouk moment to the point that 0 points > 466 points is essentially the new benchmark for upgrades at ESC. This year is about consolidation, especially with local fans at home. 2022 mostly eliminated the idea that Europe hates us, but there's still a bad stereotype that remains among locals who think Steps and S Club are passable entries. We need to finish convincing the UK audience what modern Eurovision is like, hosting will help, but a second quality entry and result in a row is the only way we can do that. One good result will be immediately forgotten, our locals immediately going back to Europhobic bloc voting rants if we send something silly and low effort. Now is the time to extend our good year, and whether we finish 15th, or 10th, or 1st, we must send quality again. And TaP will.

What is this...... Posted this morning....

Screenshot-20230220-123517-Facebook.jpg

Eurovision itself would discuss tickets when the time is right, and Tuesday morning on Radio 2 is too low-key to release an artist or song announcement, which leaves either:

-announcement of the date we can expect an artist reveal announcement
-hosts announcement (especially after that Alesha Dixon leak)

Yeah, I'm thinking it's to do with the hosts tbh. Unlikely to be artists/song reveal that suddenly as you say and on a random Tuesday with 24 hours notice.
