Ohhh poor UK, I think Molly´s perfomance was blof, but I would like a TOP 5-10 for UK, I dont think that Norway,Finland,Denmark,Switzerland or Iceland are better than UK IMO of course.

I feel a bit like this year was Gina G 1996 all over again... she was expected by many to win but came 8th. The up-side is the following year the UK won... so, maybe 2015 is our year? ;)

Side notes

1 - I think there were some shockingly obvious political votes last night, but they weren't the cause of the UK coming 17th.
2 - Again, I think most UK fans are disappointed because it looked like we were going to do well (polls etc) and to then only get 17th is hard. I still defend the performance, I thought it was great. But if anything the song was a grower... and when people only get to hear it once (with no semi performance) and you perform last... well.
3 - Still rather shocked it didn't go much higher with juries.
4 - I understand people saying they didn't really like it etc etc etc, but it really deserved Top 10, at least left hand side of the board! I just hope this disappointment doesn't negatively impact people's views of Eurovision in the UK and the BBC's plans... which there is a danger of now.

Uk participation is never in danger. It is one of their biggest shows in terms of audience figures. Believe it or not people don't just watch the show to support the uk. It is a whole entertainment package

Yeah we'd be one of the last countries to withdraw. People may complain but this country loves Eurovision. My news feed was absolutely gushing over Conchita last night on Facebook!

We have almost 10 million viewers. Apparently it was watched by 120 million. Therefore we probably have the biggest audience share of the whole of Europe.

We will never withdraw from Eurovision. The British love to moan and act like pompous, miserable victims but we will always tune in to watch BBC1 to watch the contest if we're in at home and nothing better to do. It's massive here.

The performance was totally flat. The most surprising thing was how betting sites suggested how good it looked on screen. With a perfect vocal and being more animated that would not have been the case. I was actually gob smacked at that much.

I will return to my first impression that the lyrics were just wrong. If the BBC are to use BBC Introducing they should be finding things that are current and fresh not rehashed lyrics we've had time and again. We need a grown up song. Molly imo was not the wrong choice any of her other songs would have worked much better. Though it was her mistake to sing in such a low key in the verse.

3rd best figures behind 1999 and 2011. BBC will not withdraw. Because they have improved upon the old system I think the BBC will continue with BBC introducing.

That's extremely consistent considering viewing figures for all programmes have dropped dramatically over the last 5 years. In fact the average seems to have risen. Just goes to show we love Eurovision more than any other.

Lol we knew it was shite and would come last so why bother watching

Yeah that was our low point. I didn't even pay attention to the build-up to 2010 because of that I think

I never even knew there was a NF that year. I watched them all the previous years, then I remember seeing Eurovision advertised in the tv Magazine and I was like What about the NF? :s

I didn't say our participation was in danger... My 4th point did allude, however, to the fact that the BBC tried hard this year with a serious new act and the UK still did badly - which won't help change the minds of those that think it's 'silly' or 'stupid' or 'we shouldn't bother'... After a whole load of effort to get away from the Daz Simpon and pregnant Jordan years... it didn't really pay off... and some might be negative about that.

This is for France, but I can imagine the BBC following this or at least consider it.

France will not withdraw !!! Frederic Valencak (assistant director of France 3 entertainment department) and France 3 are looking to the possibility for France to sing during the semi-final next year.

Eurovision*: les réflexions de la direction de France 3 pour l

yes this is good solution all the big 5 can sing in the semifinal

Great news for France, I hope the UK try it as well. What could work is to have the big 5 + host voting in that semi perform their song during the voting time period. That way they get SF exposure and don't loose their big 5 status.

On the night of May 10 to 11 , Toutelatele.com could get feedback from the French delegation has yet to Copenhagen, Denmark , as well as the Twin Twin group .

Following their defeat, the training outcome of Montreuil has advanced a novel argument to explain a large discrepancy between the predictions and the final vote: "You reproach us to be privileged because we do not have to go through semifinals. I think it is rather a handicap. The semifinals allow people to get a favourite song early. "

Frédéric Valencak , executive assistant entertainment France 3 goes in this direction : "There is a problem with the Big 5 in the final automatically qualified countries are ranked well below expectations. . Italy - # 1 selling home - and the United Kingdom did not deserve their place at the end . " For your information, these two countries have held the 21st and 17th place in the competition . And it added : "We'll see if we can improve it . "

At the " next meeting" , Frédéric Valencak and direction of France 3 will in particular consider the possibility of moving out of competition on the stage of semi-finals next year

I tried to edit to what i think they were saying, but it has been translated pretty badly. I like how they acknowledged the failures of the UK and Italy. I actually think we should sing during the voting so we can get that same exposure.

AshleyWright the voting time period is a bad time to see the big 5 + host, it could be confusing to some viewers, the best time is after the qualification :)
