I see you stand like greyhounds in the slips,
Straining upon the start. The game's afoot:
Follow your spirit, and upon this charge
Cry 'God for Blue, England, and Saint George!'

According to twitter, they were ok? Ok, it's bbceurovision BUT some foreign responses said they were good? Hmm, must be one or the other?!?

Is there anywhere we can watch the performance?

lol bbceurovision would never tweet saying "Uh oh Blue just blew it for the UK, don't bother tuning in tomorrow night guys, better get your Irish flags at the ready" haha

I hope its an exaggeration of how bad they were from others though, everyone thought Estonia blew it in the jury rehearsal (and Slovenia too) and they both made it through so I guess there is still hope, just not a great start for the boys at all, what is with them?!

"Oy vey. What a mess. How I love this song and how it pains me to see the colossal clusterfu** they made of this. Nothing works here, really nothing. Grrrr."

:?

The worst comment on the blog. Was they that bad??

Actually, that's a good point. And wasn't Lena's jury rehearsal performance last year poor? Even still, from what I could hear, it was pretty bad.

Yeah, I definitely don't remember watching it with confidence that Lena would pull off a win last year so there's still hope *clutches at straws* lol! We've also gotta hope that they appreciated the song but from what happened in the semi's the jurors think they are judging a talent contest this year :/

For me, vocals are only one part of the overall package and as Alexander Rybak and Lena have shown, you can win a convincing victory with poor vocals over others with perfect vocals. It also depends on the artist themselves, the song itself, the presentation and the general 'feeling' of the performance. I've not heard this apparent poor performance, naturally its disappointing if it was poor vocally (although in the arena and in HD it'll sound very different to on a cheap internet feed ;)) but we shouldnt give up and should fight for victory all the way!!

Apparently there was a big cheer from the crowd though. I think I'm clutching that same straw as you though! ^ lol

Yeah, I think the initial disappointment made me more pessimistic than I should have been. As I said before, Lee actually went for the high note near the end and seemed to hit it pretty well. And some people seem to think they really did well, others think it was terrible. I couldn't hear it too well.

I still think France have won this now. I hate the song AND the singer, but the guy can clearly sing, and the juries will love it.

----

Right, they're repeating the songs. I'm really going to listen to the UK vocals.
- Really hard to tell. For some reason, the UK backing track was too loud, so it was hard to hear. But it sounded.... OK. It's too hard to tell really, but I'm still not overjoyed. The general consensus on the feed is that it was OK, but underwhelming.

yeah keep us informed! It worries me that the bloggers are in the arena and saying it's awful - things normally sound better in the arena so if it sounds bad in there it must be reeeally bad on TV haha ohhhh dear. Why can't we ever have someone who we don't have to worry about the vocals with lol my nerves can't handle this every year!

I listened via escdaily and I don't understand what was so wrong? It was maybe Anthony's bit in the middle that wasn't as strong but Lee hit some cracking notes, and the chorus was sung with total conviction.

I don't understand why it is so bad!? Plus escnation is Ireland biased anyway in my opinion a la AKOE so I would take that with a pinch of salt.

I wouldn't worry guys.

The French supporters like to think it in the bag, the French themselves are preparing for hosting... will people like this arrogance, I dont think they will ;).

The Juries will love it but a song cant win without televotes, if it got any lower than 3rd really on televotes it is almost impossible for it to win - the only way it could is if it was a massive runaway with the Juries which I dont think it will be when there are other great contenders too.

If all comes to all and the United Kingdom seems to be performing poorly tomorrow (which I dont think it will because we're going to do very well with the televoters imo :)) then I will most likely adopt an Anyone-but-France stance as Id much rather have Ireland, Azerbaijan, Estonia, Finland, Russia, Sweden, Germany, whoever, as the victors because I really do find the French song to be intensely boring.

Was just talking to a couple of people in the arena via twitter and Facebook. Both said that the only part they cringed at was antonys bit. Said rest was good and improved on previous rehearsals and finished with a big cheer!

Smear campaigns?? Perhaps nervous because it was popular and good? ;)

The previews seem really short. I could hear cheering behind the UK preview, which you can't hear that much for other acts (Germany aside, of course :p )

I'm really hoping this is true about it actually being alright. I guess we will never know until tomorrow, I hate how you can't trust alot of people's reviews of eurovision, why can't people just report in a non bias way, just cos they say something is good/bad isn't gonna change the competition lol *rant over AKOE*

Come on Blue! I'm positive again now haha

I think we're going to get the biggest cheer tomorrow apart from Germany - we have done throughout both the SemiFinals, there was complete silence for France .

As for the bookies, half of them have a British victory becoming more likely and half less likely. I think it's very much dependent on how we do tomorrow depending on our finishing position, I couldnt see the Juries having us outside the top 5 no matter how bad they sung (which it's becoming clear they didnt sing badly anyway) so it's the televoters we gotta win over so it's all to play for!

I think we'll be fine. It does sound as though it was popular in the arena so maybe it could be just biased reviews? How do the juries vote? Do they watch the show live and then get together to vote or do they see a clip of the rehearsal (clip of each song) and then vote?

Sorry, probably a dopey question but I really don't know lol!

I think as far as I know they are watching it live tonight in the arena, I know they have to submit their votes before midnight tonight so that the voting order can be decided for tomorrow evening but they might watch it on a screen somewhere too I'm not 100% sure on that one
