BATE :by: - PSV :nl: 2-3

I've seen this game, BATE started surprisingly attacking, and came on 1-0 and dominated till the penalty and the 1-1. Then PSV started to be better and had to score lots of goals, but they scored only one 1-2. Than By surprise in the 88th minute The old Hleb scored the 2-2. But in the 89th minute the young Malen scored 2-3. I think it was deserved, and it's good news, but please don't underestimate them at home .

That's what happens when two teams with no creativity in their attack park the bus on each other in front of 0 attendance.

I choose to believe in a 1-0 home victory in the second leg with Red Star being denied a rightful penalty at 90+5' and our goal scored from blatant offside. xheat

Also keeping fingers crossed for Rapid on Thursday so we keep the chance for another #11 in the five years' ranking (which comes with a possible direct CL spot)

I thought Degenek was excellent. He completely shut down Dabbur who had no effect in the game. You will see a totally different Salzburg in the 2nd leg I think. I expect a lot more urgency and pressing from the likes of Dabbur, Haidara and Samassekou. They are probably going to have to score at least twice though. It must be said though that Marin Pongracic the replacement for Duje Caleta-Car who went to Marseille in the summer was terrific along with goalie Cican Stankovic who is pushing for that starting GK jersey for the Austrian national team.

Yes, Degenek was very good, that was probably his best match in Zvezda so far. And Cican, on the other hand, was one of the few good individuals in Salzburg.

I have no doubt that Salzburg will indeed play differently in Austria, but I can assure you - Zvezda will also play differently.

I expect Milojević to be defensive once again, but Zvezda has much bigger potential in the attack than what they shown so far. At one point, Salzburg will have to open and that will leave plenty of room for Zvezda's counter-attacks. They are very good in this segment this season and players like Radonjić, Stojiljković and Srnić can outperform any keeper.

I think Salzburg definitely missed a huge opportunity here and if they conceive a goal, I think that will be it. Based on what I've seen, they will hardly score 2 goals against Zvezda.

You know about Red Bull Salzburgs Champions League curse? They tried to qualify for the group stage 10 times and theyve never made it xcrazy once they even failed against Dudelange :D so Maybe thats why they are inhibited and underperforming... traumatic memories
I can see the second leg ending 1:1 with Salzburg having the lead until 5 minutes before the end and then conceding the equalizer

Yes, I am aware of that fact. And it's actually quite surprising to me as Salzburg constantly has great teams yet they can never pull it off.

And ironically, I have the same feeling  I feel that Salzburg could take an early lead on Tuesday and then retreat. If they really do that, that will be suicidal against this team of Crvena Zvezda. In that case, it will just be a matter of time before they conceive a goal.

Spartak Trnava repeated the same mistake and last season several other teams did the same (including :ru: Krasnodar) and all of them lost at the end.

This team of Zvezda is much weaker than the one from the last season but it's still on a high enough level to pass Salzburg, at least with a result like 1-1.

Knowing Zvezda's leadership (and the most hardcore fans), I am actually already picturing a reaction.........

You should try to preserve the home ground on Tuesday as I expect Zvezda's fans to fill at least half of it. There are plenty of Zvezda's fans living in :at: and when that is combined with these fans that will come to Salzburg from Belgrade, the local team might actually play as if they were guests on their own stadium.

Half of the stadium is filled at this point and ticket availibility remains exclusive to season ticket holders until Friday. I predict at least 10k seats will remain vacant after that day though. :? We actually had the same issue with Dortmund last season and could deal with it, but then Dortmund is a far bigger name and generates much more interest among casuals.

I have my ticket for the match so that's all I can do.

I cannot create 10000 clones of myself yet, not that anyone on this planet would want that tho. xthink

Junuzovic will be out due to injury and his replacement is way out of shape, not a good sign.

Leitgeb's not gonna start. This actually would be the perfect chance for Marco Rose to start the Hungarian Wunderboy Dominik Szoboszlai.
I would drop Yabo and start Daka. Possibly Minamino in for Wolf as well.

If they score early they will continue to look to be on the front foot. I can assure you that. They will be looking to score at least 3 or 4 because they always conceed chances the other way.

PS - I have no clue how to resize images. Could someone tell me?

Ajax :nl: - Dynamo Kyiv :ua: 3-1

It's a good result, but a quick goal in Kyiv can still give troubles. So Ajax should keep focused and then maybe there will be two Dutch teams in the CL for the first time since 2010. Would be an amazing result.

The atmosphere on the stadium of Partizan is amazing and plenty of fans are arriving already. I am glad that our fans recognized the importance of this match and that we will have a (nearly) full stadium.

Too bad that :tr: Besiktas fans will not be around as UEFA didn't allow them to come but I expect a spectacle in the second leg nonetheless.

Despite shortcomings in our previous matches, I believe that we can get a positive result tonight.

Good luck to other teams competing tonight as well.

Also lucian-crusher , good luck to Steaua against Rapid.

If Tolga Zengin is in goal for Besiktas you could very well have a lead at the end of tonight. From the highlights I've seen he's been nothing short of terrible. Good luck Milos-BC

We lost and we made huge mistakes but I still think we can win in Bucharest!

:lu: Dudelange - CFR Cluj :ro: 2 - 0
That's a shame!

UEFA Europa League play-off

:rs: Partizan 1:1 :tr: Besiktas J.K.

Good result and a solid play against a very strong team. This was our best European match so far. We were motivated, agressive and in the second half we were a better team. There were many mistakes in the defense in the first half which is why we quickly lost the lead (sadly) but we managed to stabilize in the second 45 minutes. We had a couple of really good chances for the second goal as well but this result is fair enough.

Besiktas is still the favorite especially since they are playing at home now and they scored a goal in Belgrade. They will also be stronger for Lans and Babel who didn't play in the first leg. But we have our chances as well and, after this match, I am convinced that, with the right approach, we can get another good result in Istanbul and make our way towards Europa League.

Dynamo Kyiv :ua: - Ajax xyes 0-0

Ajax dominated the game, but it's always nervous when the difference is only two goals, especially for Dutch teams. They did it though, so now waiting for tomorrow in a stormy stadium in Eindhoven :D

Well done to them! I know this is slightly offtopic and early days as well, but I'm pretty sure Ajax and PSV are going to decide once again who will be the champion this season.

Salzburg

We all knew this would happen. How can you throw the lead away so easily? As long as Austria doesnt get a UCL group stage spot Salzburg wont play there

They will at some point. Will take another few years though. Red Star Belgrade are headed for at least 5 losses in the group stage.

condolences pjelacki. Another Europa League run now for the Austrian Champs

:nl: PSV - :by: BATE 3-0

Also PSV dominated, says a lot about Ajax and PSV right now. Dominating the competition and now dominating in very important qualification matches. 2 Dutch CL teams didn't happen since 2010 or something like that, so a very important win. Also going over Austria in the ranking. Hopefully they both can get a good draw and some points within the CL, I can see some teams in every pot we want to draw, that are relatively possible, so who knows!

Pot 1:
Real Madrid
Atlético
FC Barcelona
Bayern München
Manchester City
Juventus
PSG
Lokomotiv Moscow

Only one team is relatively easy and that is Lokomotiv. I've seen Atlético make some mistakes in group phases, the rest is just hope.

Pot 2:
Borussia Dortmund
FC Porto
Manchester United
Shakhtar Donetsk
Benfica
Napoli
Tottenham Hotspur
AS Roma

All good teams, still some reachable cards here. FC Porto and Benfica are very difficult of course, but maybe doable. Same thing for Shakhtar Donetsk. Man Utd. Doesn't have the form yet, so maybe something can happen there too. AS Roma, Tottenham and Napoli are no go area's if you want to reach the last 16 I guess.

Pot 3:
Liverpool
Schalke 04
Olympique Lyon
AS Monaco
Ajax
CSKA Moscow
PSV Eindhoven
Valencia

Thanks to the loss of Salzburg Valencia flipped to pot 3, which is nice I guess. Ajax, Moscow and PSV are the easiest here. Schalke and Lyon haven't been big powerhouses lately either. Nobody wants Liverpool I guess.

Pot 4:
Viktoria Plzen
Club Brugge
Galatasaray
Young Boys
Internazionale
Hoffenheim
Red Star Belgrade
AEK Athens

One team flashes through the rest: Internazionale is back, but in pot 4. That would be the draw to miss. Hoffenheim probably is tough. The rest is may be possible, difficult but possible.

Weakest draw possible:
Lokomotiv
Shakhtar
PSV
Crvena Zvezda

I think even PSV can qualify from this draw.

Strongest draw possible:
Real Madrid
Borussia Dortmund
Liverpool
Internazionale

Please xsanta Even Real Madrid can go to the Europa League :D
