You are sure that Inter will win the group, but I'm not sure... after all, we lost against Hajduk and made 2-2 in extremis against Vaslui, playing in San Siro... :?

Yes, it's a favorite, but who knows what will happen during the match? Besides, there's the possibility that inter lines up reserves, understimating the competition.

^^ That is what I think we can expect too.

I also don't know, what are Inter's ambitions in this EL? I know that Figo said that you are planning to battle for the top, but I have a feeling that the national championship may still be the priority for your team.

I think that it is a huge handicap that Stankovic isn't registered for this competition. Is he in bad relations with the coach? He was one of the most important players of the team for....well, a lot of seasons, and I personally think he should have been on the roster. But, I guess that Stramaccioni has his reasons.

Yes, obviousely they declare it's important, but I'm not sure they really think so about EL...

I know that Stramaccioni has a good relationship with all players. Probably it's a technical choice, or Stankovic isn't in fine form, I don't know.

edit: I made a research: Stankovic is injured since may... but maybe he will return in not a lot of time

I didn't know that he is injured. That explains it than.

I was a bit surprised when I saw that he fell into the "second plan" as I always thought he was one of Inter's most important players. I think that the team with Snejder, Zanethi, Cassano, Silvestre etc.... is still fairly strong and is definetly the biggest favorite of the group on the paper.

However, the problems could definetly occur if the players underestimate the competition or their rivals. It is always dangerous to underestimate an opponent, no matter the difference in quality. It often happens that weaker teams play abnormally well and well above their actual limits if they are fully motivated and they tend to create a lot of problems for the stronger team that underestimates them.

Arsenal was a lot stronger than us in 2010 (obviously) but even though our balance is 6-2 after two matches and even though one may think they beated us easily just when looking ath the score, the picture on the field was much different, as they struggled in both matches, and in both matches we helped them with our own mistakes.

On the Emirates stadium when they needed a victory in order to pass and when they came out with their strongest team, they couldn't harm us until our defender made a penalty. And a very idiotic one. If that didn't happen, who knows if they would beat us in the end. Wenger was about to collapse from anger that they are struggling with us on their own field.....and then came the penalty.

Serbian teams tend to make a lot of unexplained mistakes in such matches. Remember Vidic's "handball" on the World Cup 2010 match against Germany? He never did anything similar in United as far as I remember......

Who knows, maybe we do the same thing to help Inter on the matches of our two teams  Who knows....

Tbh, I was quite shocked when I saw that Hajduk beated you in San Siro. Hajduk is in a huge crisis currently, and Dinamo is the club that dominates the Croatian league. I didn't watch the whole match, but from what I saw, it wasn't good. However, the most important thing is that you got the result you needed in these two matches. Screw the game in the end, if the result is not good. As I like to say: "Winners die in the beauty of the result, and losers in the beauty of the game".

Vaslui is one of the strongest teams in :ro: and they are a tricky opponent for everyone.

Partizan also needed a break, as we barely managed to beat OFK Beograd in the national championship, and that match was very important for us. OFK Beograd is, imo, now one of the weakest teams in our league, and the game we showed there is worrying. Of course, it is the most important thing that we won, yeah, but we need to improve our game for the Europa League matches.

We will see tomorrow against Hajduk Kula if we recharged enough :D

Btw, we got a general sponsor the EL matches, and the jerseys with their logo were promoted tonight:

Tbh, I like these jerseys without the logo better, but anyway....

When you mention Juventus  ........they have a great role in the jersey color we are wearing, as back in the early 50s (Partizan was founded in 1945 in all sports) we were playing against Juventus in some international tournament, and the presidents of our two clubs became great friends. As a result also, they gave us a set of their jersies as a giift, and that is when it was proposed that we should switch to "black-and-white" instead of our traditional colors: "blue-and-red"(same as FC Barcelona). And ever since the 50s Partizan has always been black and white :D

We are in great relations with the supporters of Juventus because we share the same colors, but also with supporters of :gr: PAOK Thessaloniki. Partizan's supporters often go to Greece to support PAOK, and PAOK often supports Partizan as well. These two clubs are considered as "brother clubs".

Btw, as far as I know, we have great relations with Inter as well, and even with your eternal rivals Milan :D Inter wanted to buy our Lazar Markovic in one period.....

Tbh means - to be honest (as it was said in the post above mine) :D

It won't be an easy match at all, as I don't consider Neftchi to be outsiders in this competition. They have their qualities. I scouted them a bit, and I can say that the middle is the strongest part of the team. The biggest threats for us will be Sadigov and especially Vobay (the best player of the team imo). Attack is solid, the defense is the weaker part of the team, and the goalkeeper Stamenkovic is the weakest spot. We have several quite good shooters from distance, and since Stamenkovic tends to get goals from 40 meters, it wouldn't surprise me if one of those shots gets in tomorrow evening.

It will be a tough match, and we need to be patient. We are the favorites as we play on our stadium, and if reduce any errors in the defense and use our chances, we will get all 3 points, which will be very important as they will put us in the position to fight for the second spot until the end of the group stage.

A qualification for the next round is not an imperative of Partizan, as we are not favorites to pass, but it is an imperative for our young team to fight and leave their hearts on the field, and then what happens, happens. Every point for the Serbian soccer and Partizan is very precious.

OK, thanks for this info. I wish him a fast recovery and to return to his usual form as quickly as possible! :)

super-strike, first ever Armenian National Team player to score in Champions League group stage! xdance

Mkhitaryan too hot to handle for Nordsjælland

Henrik Mkhitaryan's first and second UEFA Champions League goals earned a 2-0 reward for FC Shakhtar Donetsk after a dominant performance against group stage newcomers FC Nordsjælland.

The attacking midfielder has been in deadly form this term, netting 12 times in just nine Ukrainian Premier League games. He continued that rich vein of form at the Donbass Arena in this Group E opener, his well-taken goals at the end of each half clinching a deserved three points. The hosts did not have it all their own way, though, especially in the first 44 minutes.

The Danish title holders are new to this stage and began cautiously, defending in numbers and putting the onus on Shakhtar to find a way through. Despite enjoying the vast majority of possession, the home side were frustrated for long periods and while Jesper Hansen in the Nordsjælland goal was never at ease, he hardly had a save to make.

With half-time approaching the Pitmen finally found their rhythm. Mkhitaryan went close, and though one powerful shot from the No22 was well stopped by Hansen with his legs, the keeper was helpless a minute before the break. Fernandinho retrieved the ball in midfield and delivered a perfectly weighted through ball that allowed Luiz Adriano to identify his man before pulling it back to Mkhitaryan near the edge of the box. The Armenian international finished first time.

Buoyed by the breakthrough, Shakhtar continued to hold sway after the restart and could have doubled their advantage early in the second half. Hansen failed to hold Darijo Srna's stinging volley from distance but reacted brilliantly to deny Tomáš Hübschman from close range. The Ukrainian champions were in control and really should have put the game out of reach. Luiz Adriano and Willian both threatened a second.

The match was eventually over as a contest with 14 minutes to go as Mkhitaryan increased his tally. Mircea Lucescu's men broke quickly and the 23-year-old unselfishly tried to square to substitute Marko Dević. The ball ricocheted back off a defender, though, and he made no mistake with a cool left-footed finish from ten metres out.

Shakhtar might even have extended their lead, with Hansen producing a stunning late save from Dević, but they will be relieved to have picked up their first win at the Donbass Arena in this competition in almost 18 months.
