We'll probably see what we see every year. A promising build of rumours and comments from singers saying Turkey is back and they're interested. A name will circulate and TRT will confirm it etc, it will look like they're set to return and then just as the ball gets rolling and it's almost certain they're back, it will all suddenly stop and they've changed their minds and don't return after all.

No way this will happen and trust me this will be the first time there will even be no rumours at all about it, I'm 99% sure TRT will already decline 2019 before this years editons even over. TRT even said; ' Just forget about Eurovision.' I'm not going to lie, I kind of agree with them about big 5 but also know that this is like 0% of the actual reason of not participating. Turkey and esp. the government + TRT have never been as anti-Europe as it is right now. 2019 will have a very important election thats where the focus will be.
It is very sad bcs ESC used to be so big in here and I love how positive people always were even if we got like 0-1 points for the first 20 editions. I really believe Turkey and Turkish ppl had created one of the biggest' Eurovision culture' out of almost any participating country. People after half a decade have still not giving up but Turkey's ESC future just doesn't look bright realistically.
Only possible way is like I said last year if there was a possible broadcaster change. TRT is owned by the government and has no power on its own, I would really LOVE another broadcaster like Fox or even TV8 but thats not likely either. (They wont allow it)
(Also just saying: personally I'd rather have us not participate at all then to participate with this current disgrace that is left of TRT)

I see little chance of Turkey coming back as long as it's under the Erdögan islamist regime, Eurovision stands for everything that regime loath and since this regime controls the public broadcaster as well as most of the main media in the country, I don't see this happening any day soon.

The more i think of it, it seems a major part of the soul of modern Eurovision went away with Turkey. It's as if all of it had to take a step back without them. Turkey was the only muslim-majority country to consistenly send entries reflecting their own culture, the only other one being Azerbaijan who still only sends very Western entries, and lately no good ones either.
Without Turkey as a steady and solid competitor every year, the contest really isn't as diverse anymore, and the fact that they won once and came close to winning several time, and only once missed the final, really speaks for how tolerant and diverse the contest is, or was. Now we can just dream....
