Canada's off to a good start already! We have 2 riders advancing to the men's slopestyle final, all 4 women have advanced to the medal round in moguls (including all three Dufour-Lapointe sisters), and Patrick Chan just helped Team Canada get into third place in the team competition

4 years ago I couldn't believe that Canada was the most successful nation, because apart of Ice hockey I hardly saw any successful Canadian athlet in any discipline...
but then I noticed that Canada is strong in all these disciplines, which I don't care because they are not popular at all in Germany :D
However, I'm curios if Canada can repeat its overwhelming success from 4 years ago :D

I'm personally looking forward especially to the ski jumping events.

and in general I think Germany has to eat humble pie compared to the last winter olympics... I guess the result will be something like 25 medals, and 8 of them will be golden

I watched some of the slopestyle. Quite pleasing results, but I mainly watch it for the action.

Other than that, aside from the obvious political issue all I currently care about is the Jamaican bobsled team and Zimbabwe's team (one alpine skier whose clothes are designed by a Finnish company). That's probably going to change at some point.

Pretty bad start for Norway. Torstein Horgmo was badly injured during training in Sochi, and can't compete in the Olympics. He had a good chance at getting a medal in snowboard slopestyle. Ståle Sandbech and Gjermund Bråten have qualified for the final.

For the women, Silje Norendal, who won the X Games recently, failed in the qualification, and Kjersti Buaas fell hard, and is injured too. She can hopefully compete in the semifinal tho (together with Silje). It took ages for the medicals to get to Kjersti when she fell tho, which is a bit of a concern. Also, in freestyle slopestyle, Tiril Sjaastad Christiansen has too much pain in her knee after she injured herself in November, and she can't compete either.

Anders Jacobsen (ski jumping practice) and Hedvig Wessel (moguls qualification) have also fallen today.
