Exactly. I have read somewhere that the amount of money that a country can pay to enter the "Big"-group, depends on their amount of people. The Netherlands is very crowded for a small country, but you can't compare it to nations as the UK, France, Germany, Spain or Italy. The smaller the country, the more difficult it is to enter the group. So I don't think it will ever happen, as The Netherlands is a very small country.

I don't think it should be right that the Big group keeps on growing, otherwise countries may as well just forget about the songs and buy their way into the final.

Personally I think the Top 5 from the year before should make it to the final, regardless of budgeting, and everyone else should be made to compete in the semis. That way maybe the Big 5 would try a bit harder to save face. However, they may just withdraw if that happened, which wouldn't be good :L

We can't afford such a place, it would cost us a vast amount of money!

Seriously?? If Spain can afford a place, the Netherlands certainly can afford a place. The Netherlands is one of the richest countries in the world. If look up your country in every ranking (Human development, income,...), you'll see that your country is even better delevopped than the UK!

Okay, I as a Belgian will say this only once :p!

Good luck Netherlands! I wish you the best and love for you to rejoin us in the finals but while I like your song a lot, it's probably not enough for the televoters. So 14 - 16th place is my prediction. sorry :(

Now I know what I will wear to Dusseldorf: a t-shirt with 'please vote for us' and the phone-number. Or 'Vote Netherlands, pleaaaaase?'

Big 4 was firstly created for the biggest historical western countries in the contest. Italy came back, and as one of these, they joined the Big 5.

Same for Belgium :).

(BTW: I didn't want to be offensive by saying Spain, it's just because they have a lot of financial problems these days)

It would make a difference if we could buy a place, the festival is very unpopular here because of the bad results. So probably most people wouldn't even mind. By the way, who has to pay for the spot?
The broadcaster? Because the TROS surely can't pay that price.

This song is a grower! Hope it will be enough to pass the semis.

I don't know how it works in the Netherlands, but in Belgium I think the Flemish and Walloon community would pay for it. The Flemish government paid also Kate Ryan's promotion tour...

But, a place in the final doesn't mean you'll get a great result :).

Anyways, I hope you'll get a great result in Düsseldorf and I hope you'll pass to the finals!

I have read somewhere that we will be back next year, no matter what the result for the 3JS is. So we won't withdraw that quickly. But I have to say that I was very relieved when I read that article, cause every year you hear very negative comments that we should withdraw because of the bad results, that it's a hopeless case, etc. So every year I'm very relieved to hear that we will be back again!

It´s the first time since many years, that the Netherlands have a really good chance for the final. Your song is good and has many fans around Europe.
I must admit, that the entries of the last two years were awefull. Both songs were jokes. But this year, the song is modern and sounds really great. I would be very dissapointed, if it wouldn´t reach the final. Good luck!

Good rehearsal I must say. I am still not fond of the song too much, but they did a great job. It may go both ways.
