It's a myth, Melodifestivalen may perhaps reach over 40% e.g. Melodifestivalen final 2012 when Loreen won - 43% (4 090 000 viewers). There are probably people here who knows these things better and in detail, but I doubt there has been any edition above 50% share. Anyway, 35% share is very very good I think.

Ok but the population in Sweden is 9 639 741 hab (11/2013). So here you give share on the whole population. On the first page it's share only on TV-viewer... you can't compare it lol. I think ParadisES is right with a 70% share.

you're probably right. I do not believe ESC had better a TV viewing share in the UK than in Sweden.

OK, the MMS site do have figures for this (in advanced mode), so here goes:

Melodifestivalen final 2012: 4.090 (45.1%) million viewers of total 5.057 (55.7%) million viewers => 81.4% share
Eurovision 2014 semi1: 1.736 (18.8%) million viewers of total 2.954 (32.1%) million viewers => 55.1% share
Eurovision 2014 semi2: 1.122 (12.2%) million viewers of total 2.117 (23.0%) million viewers => 39.3% share
Eurovision 2014 final: 3.364 (36.5%) million viewers of total 4.951 (53.7%) million viewers => 83.2% share

Latvian and Lithuanian ratings were much lower than I would have thought..

In , Final had a share of 20%. A bit more than 240000 people.

HRT (our national broadcaster) said that they are satisfied considering that Croatia wasn't taking part. I think this is only a plus for our return next year.

I guess 150 million are everyone who watched ESC at least for a second + all the people who watched it from other countries or via Internet.

On this article they explain the 170 million as a figue of 'Reach' over the three shows and people watching one minute not the entire program. Reach is rather redundant in terms of recording ratings whereas average and peak is what broadcasters will focus on.

Maybe France 2 should take back the contest.

France 2 or France 3 doesn't matter What matters is that France takes it seriously, it's the only way to get a decent result. And they can if they want: look at the good results of Patricia Kaas in 2009, Natasha St-Pier or Sandrine François (but I admit, that's already more than 10 years ago).
