Neither Ana nor Bouchard made it to the Semifinals of WTAFinals in Singapore. :( I hope Wozniacki takes it now.

Tennis season started again - and guess what - Roger Federer is still on all headlines. He won Brisbane ATP tournament and reached his No. 1000 win. He's the 3rd of all time, having only Ivan Lendl and Jimmy Connors in front of him.

In the other tournaments:
DOHA - Nadal beaten in the 1st round by Berrer in 3 sets (as I don't like Nadal, this wasn't exactly a bad news for me). Djokovic was eliminated one round later against a re-living Ivo Karlovic (again, 3 sets). The whole tournament was taken by David Ferrer.
CHENNAI - The Indian tournament went to Stan Wawrinka, who won the final against a surprising Aljaz Bedene in straight sets.

---

WOMEN
BRISBANE - In the main event of this week, Maria Sharapova managed to come back from a set down against Ana Ivanovic and win this first final of the year.
SHENZHEN - The small Chinese tournament saw a well ranked final - Simona Halep against one who's coming back on great standards after years - the Swiss Timea Bacsinszky. The Romanian took the trophy.
AUCKLAND - Venus Williams showed a great form by beating Caroline Wozniacki in the final of this tournament located in New Zealand. She came back from a set down. Auckland also marked the first steps of the reigning doubles world No.1 Sara Errani and Roberta Vinci, who won their 22nd tournament as a team.

HOPMAN CUP
The ITF mixed event saw Poland win against the USA in the final. Poland had Agnieszka Radwanska and Jerzy Janowicz on its side, while the USA could feature Serena Williams (in a very bad shape) and John Isner.

THIS WEEK
Tournaments are being held in Sydney (combined, ATP 250/WTA Premier), Auckland (ATP 250), Hobart (WTA International). Plus, Australian Open qualifiers will take place this week at Melbourne Park.

Sydney will feature the 2nd comeback of Juan Martin Del Potro, who will play tonight against Sergiy Stakhovsky (yeah, the one who managed to beat Federer in the crazy Wimbledon 2013). This tournament sees the Italian Fabio Fognini as No.1 seed, followed by David Goffin (who will play Bolelli, a possible good man this year).

In Auckland, Robredo and Gulbis are the first 2 seeds.

In Sydney's women tournament, Halep and Kvitova lead the seeds list.

In Hobart, Casey Dellacqua is the main seed, followed by Zarina Diyas (who'll have a complicated 2nd round against the never ending Daniela Hantuchova). Even Dellacqua could have some troubles against Karin Knapp, who seems in a quite good shape in this start of the season.

How this week tournaments ended

SYDNEY
MEN - In the first ever final between 2 coming from the qualifying rounds, Victor Troicki defeated Mikhail Kukushkin in straight sets (6-2 6-3).
WOMEN - An all-Czech final took place, as Petra Kvitova needed 2 tie-breaks to beat Karolina Pliskova - it's her 15th career tournament.

AUCKLAND (Men only)
The Czech Jiri Vesely, coming from the qualifying rounds, managed to win this tournament by defeating Bellucci, Gulbis and Anderson in the earlier rounds, and the French Adrian Mannarino in the final (6-3 6-2).

HOBART (Women only)
This tournament went a strange way, and Heather Watson won it (2nd career title) against the qualifier Madison Brengle. Watson defeated Rybarikova, Stephens, Vinci, Riske on her road to the final.

AUSTRALIAN OPEN DRAWS

MEN
Stan Wawrinka has been put into Novak Djokovic's half, so Rafael Nadal is on Roger Federer's one. Their first meetings are: Djokovic-Bedene; Wawrinka-Ilhan; Youzhny-Nadal; Lu-Federer.

Djokovic may get this way to the QFs: Kuznetsov, Verdasco, Isner. He may meet Milos Raonic, but never forget about Feliciano Lopez and Gael Monfils.

Wawrinka might face Andujar, Cuevas (or Golubev?), Fognini (if he stays there with his head) before facing one between Ferrer, Simon, Giraldo and Nishikori. I'd pick Kei among them.

Nadal is the one with a bit of troubles: he immediately faces Youzhny (who isn't in his best times). Then, he may face Saville or Smyczek, then Lukas Rosol, and if he survives there's a meeting with Kevin Anderson on the road. If he can overcome his form troubles (and I doubt so), Berdych or Gulbis are on his way. Berdych played well in Doha, but Gulbis would stand a reliable chance.

Federer will have a kind of Italian run. He's going through Bolelli, Seppi (but it can be everyone between him, Istomin, Coric and Chardy), Kyrgios or Karlovic. He will probably face Murray or Dimitrov in QF - but put an eye on David Goffin...

WOMEN
Petra Kvitova is on Serena Williams side, while Simona Halep is in Maria Sharapova's one. Their first meetings are: Kvitova-Hogenkamp, S. Williams-Van Uytvanck, Knapp-Halep, Martic-Sharapova.

Serena has many doubts, and most of them are on her shape. Her run should go through Zvonareva, Svitolina and Muguruza or Jankovic (the Spanish is the one I'd pick). After that, a QF against Cibulkova, Cornet, Zahlavova Strycova or Wozniacki would come, according to seeds.

Kvitova has to deal with her mind only. If she wins in the 1st round, then her run would be: Vekic/Barthel, Dellacqua (or Keys), Petkovic. QFs against Pennetta, Venus Williams, Lepchenko or Radwanska - and I'd pick the Polish or Venus (with little chances for Flavia and none for Lepchenko).

Halep has a tricky debut, as Karin Knapp showed good things in Hobart. If she beats the Italian, her rivals should be Gajdosova, Lisicki, Errani. In the QFs, the choice may be between Ivanovic, Bencic, Karolina Pliskova and Makarova. I'd give Bencic a chance.

Sharapova, after Martic, gets Cirstea, Diyas and Safarova or Peng. Her QF spot features Bouchard, Kuznetsova, Suarez Navarro, Kerber. As we don't know Bouchard's shape, we can't pick her for sure; I'd give Kerber and Kuznetsova a chance.
