If you mean the city: no, but if you mean the region (the canton): yes.
In Geneva its maybe the same thing like in italian speaking part, i remember a statistic fact that there are 1/4 of all workers working in Geneva and living in France... i guess it will be the main reason for that people think "They steal our jobs" for the refusal of french people there, but i dont know.
The city of Zurich is a very special case i have heard... i dont know it by myself, but i have heard that in the city of Zurich it have more people who have something against
people than arround it, usually cities are more tolerant. Persoally, i dont like the city that much and im more in the city of Winterthur or Bülach (dont know english names) and i personally speak more high german* (without any accent) than swissgerman and have had such problems only a very few times.

and because i often use it accidentally also with other peoples.
Maybe because Germans think that correct German is spoken in Germany only ... I could be wrong, though that's always been my impression.
