Who cares about how they'd fare in the old system when that's not the one that would determine the outcome? xshrug

I'm surprised that you don't get the concept of average ranking. The average ranking does not give us any clue whether a song ended up in a country's Top 10, it's only overall. If you end up 11th place in every ranking, you'd still have 0 points. However if you end up 10th once but last in every other vote you'd still beat the other country. Since we don't know the individual ranking from every country, the ranking just gives you a big picture of how a song was doing but it's impossible to determine the actual place.

Just what I expected from Switzerland, one of the dullest countries in the contest, they really don't try to win this thing? 1 point for participation.

Yes, I'm almost certain the juries trashed Switzerland to pieces last year due to their hate against Christians...

"In Love for a while" was pretty crap imo... this is better of course...

I see you have your tinfoil hat full attached. The Sally Army lost because the song was crap and the performance was worse.

Oh, and Anna Rossinelli's song was one of the best Switzerland have ever sent. Wonderful song.

This must sure be a non-qualifier..? I am surprised to see people NOT finding this annoying, dull and badly presented... A happy puppet with an average voice and a strong accent singing words that dont seem to fit to the music...
xgaah Celine - please come back!!!!! Switzerland really cant get it right without you...

But the results with the current system is based on the average ranking system... so I don't see how it could rank differently then xshrug

Oh gosh, people who don't drink, how do you live?
Think about it this way: your taste in music is sooooo superior and sophisticated that your fragile ears just cannot process the primitive sounds of plebeian "songs" chosen so far

I give up, in a nutshell, the televote average ranking does not give you the proper placing of each country. Feel free to read more on the EBUs website to gain a better understanding of the the system.

No, it's the combined jury & televote and based on the combined vote a Top 10 is chosen using the familiar Eurovision Point System. We still gave 12 points to the Number 1 song, and 0 points to the 11th place. The average ranking does not take that into consideration.

I think Switzerland have a good chance of making the final.

I think this could do quite well, I don't see it winning but it could sneak up therein the top 10

I hear ya, but wouldn't the combined average top. 10 end up as the top. 10 then? Well it's very confusing tbh... I should look closer into this system.

Yes, the combined top ten is what will make up the final top ten. But the average place it got in televoting was 7.00. Half of the countries could have putted Switzerland last and the other half could have put them in 1st place for all we know. They could have finished 11th in many countries which would give them 0 points, so if televoting was all that counted they could have still failed to qualify dispite the average ranking. It's hard to explain

This is really odd

I mean if the average system is what counts, then what does it matter if it was lower or higher in individual countries?

Oh gosh, I need to look into this mess of a system

It's probably mathematically logical, and while I'm not really that bad in math, I still need to read into it before getting it
