What's the point of having a high number of submitted entires if we're getting 10 old-fashioned pop songs, 2-3 obligatory "fun" entries in Swedish and maybe 2-3 competitive entries composed by the same people all over again.

Don't get me wrong.. the sheer number of applications is really impressive but I just hope SVT (despite being very successful) comes up with more diverse semi finals + increases the overall quality.

The final usually is really strong but dunno, I think that the semi finals/heats have become quite unnecessary at this point (not in terms of viewing figures and fandom - but dunno, musically speaking).

I don't think even the finals haven't been strong for quite a while. 2020 was the last year were there was more than 2 contenders at a final.

2020 had only 2 Contenders (Mamas and Dotter).
2021 on the other Hand had Tusse, Eric Saade (who could have won Eurovison), both Klaras, Dotter + other good Songs (Danny, Charlotte).
Marcus and Martinus would have been Contenders if they competed in any other Year than 2023.

In what universe is Every Minute Eurovision winner quality? At best it would have done what Dance You Off did

I often dream random things about eurovision, but this next one fits in the thread:

I was back in school and we had to do some group project and present it to class. Three girls went first and they started singing "Dansa på himlen" by Hanna Ferm, a melodifestivalen entry that was my favorite that year (in that dream universe). I was shocked and amazed that someone else knows that "eurovision bubble song"

-As soon as i woke up, i went to youtube and of course no such song exists.
-The song was in swedish and it sounded like similar to "För Evigt" and "Välkommen Åter" (both by Hanna Ferm)
-It looks like my brain used Denmark 1993 and the latest Danny Sucedo's Melfest entry to find a song title. xrofl

Tobbe Ek has started leaking next year's participants. The first four are:
* Lasse Stefanz (Sweden's most popular dansband, previously participated in 2011)
* Smash Into Pieces
* Dotter
* Liamoo

Disappointing to see Smash return so soon, there's likely no way they can achieve third place or higher the second year in a row and I'd rather see some other new group get the "rock slot".

I'm fine with Dotter participating, just hope that she has a song that is properly competitive unlike last time. I fear Liamoo has overstayed his welcome a bit, not excited at all unfortunately.

Lasse Stefanz could be fun! The lead singer is very charming and they have a big fanbase that includes young people. If they just bring a good enough song then they could make it to the final unlike last time.

As is the case every year it would be fun to have some sort of commercially relevant artist taking part (though I guess I have gotten my wish granted with Lasse Stefanz lmao, monkey's paw).

Six Feet Under was nice but far from the best song Smash into Pieces has to offer in my opinion, so I am excited to see them return with something hopefully a bit stronger. I mean they already got third, with another song I truly think they could win Melodifestivalen.

I am excited to see Dotter return, but she needs to step a little bit out of her comfort zone this time. She always leaves a tiny bit to be desired.

LIAMOO, well. Next. Lasse Stefanz sounds interesting from how b4ld3r teased them, but I have not yet checked them out.

Lasse Stefanz are absolutely horrendous. They were the last time they took part in MF and they will most likely be so again.

Really happy about Smash Into Pieces and Dotter. Need Liamoo to step it up.

But Liamoos last Entry was insane?

And "hold me" was great as well.

Yeah I actually ment, step it up in enhancing his music even more, don't stop. I think he took the right direction with his last entry. I hope he continues in that direction.

Smash Into Pieces ans Dotter are a promising start.
I just hope to see heavier stuff than Smash Into Pieces, though.
