This is the song that interests me the most voting-wise. I am very curious how the juries have voted it and how it will fare among viewers. Did juries downvote it cuz they were afraid that the same scenario will happen as last year? Let's see.

LOL, it's like saying: How can you even listen to Yo-Yo Ma? A Chinese cellist? What a joke!!

Don't take personal offence now, but you may wonder if you mean cultural appropriation, cultural pollution, cultural exchange or any other expression on mixing cultures? The reality is Gospel and Soul have a broad appeal to pretty much all people regardless of age or social group in Scandinavia and probably most of western Europe. It does not have a religious meaning or is associated with a particular ethnicity. You can sing Gospel great even if you are a blond boy from Rouen. He may put another emotion into it than Aretha Franklin though. You never heard of Madonna's Like a Prayer? Is there a difference between American black church Gospel and European Gospel? Probably, but that is the point. The roots of Gospel is not lost just because of different expressions or lack of awareness.

On your imagination on Swedish favouritism, it's getting awfully tiring.

* Yo Yo Ma is perhaps best known for the Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon soundtrack.
Ok, then next year we are going with a mariachi band. It will be a lovely cultural exchange.

I expect similar result.

Btw, listening to something and performing it on esc is not the same thing

Well, you know how we do our thing. The most popular song wins, possibly slightly adjusted by Christer's friends around Europe. This really is who we are and only occasionally do we reflect on how we appear to be.

Yeah, that one made sense too.

Question: what if we sent gospel? Or Albania, Latvia, Poland... If it wasn’t divine Sweden.
With this exact same song we would be trashed by the same people who are here praising this. And each one would say “oh wtf does gospel has to do with them.?”
It’s true and ya’ll know it.

The point is this is bs. It’s just that far too many ppl are eating whatever Sweden is serving them, without any question.

P.S. Nothing against Sweden in general here, just to be clear, I’m talking about calling smth bs.

Yodel It! was one of my favorites in 2017 and last year, Austria had a song with gospel in it and it won the jury vote. I can't remember too many complaints about gospel not having anything to do with Austria. It's the same for Sweden.

Since when is gospel exclusive for certain countries? Gospel out of all genres?
The fans can be too much sometimes.

Anyways, I expect a strong result today. xcheer Fans are underestimating its chances just like every year but if Sweden was jury top 3 in 2017 and 2nd in 2018, it can definitely win their scoreboard today. :) Good luck, John!

Suddenly, my playlist offered me Wiktoria's Not With Me again. It reminded me of how much I want Wiktoria to perform on the Eurovision stage one day. All three of her Melodifestivalen entries were my favourite in their respective years. xbow

0scar or any woman/band for that matter, I'd love for Sweden to switch it up a little

I'd love to see Norway, Denmark, Finland switch it up a little. They seem so lost in Verona.

I forgot about that.
Yeah, that was bs as well

Also, last year I wasn’t in the mood for “discussion”

Anyways, be prepaired for mariachi band xbow

Do you think what Croatia sent this year is a good match for Croatian music and culture or do you think it's the kind of BS that can come from anywhere? :p

Are you saying popera on a stick is not a traditional Australian genre?

Oh I'm sorry... xcry
No, but maybe they use sticks when they sing in Australia.... or maybe ... hmmm.... Let's see... They DO have a very popular Opera house in Sidney and maybe they use sticks when they take care of their kangaroos... :D  :p

Right now I think a top 5 would be a marvelous result
If he does worse that Benjamin I’d be really sad
