"Disgusting" is as harsh as the cheering you are angry about.

I had to laugh too, sorry. Sweden is one of my favourite ESC countries and I like a lot of songs of them but "Dance you off" was such a no go. Any other country wouldn't have survived the semi with this song. So of course it was overrated by the juries! And of course people were laughing.

This year is much better but Sweden is playing safe, it's not their best song. It's a song that is easily loved by a younger and older audience so that giving them a lot of jury points (and I expect it will get those!) is justified and people won't complain like last year. So don't be afraid, public and juries will give a lot of points to Sweden this year... they will end up 5-10 I think.

This is total BS and deep inside you know this.

Not sure, if you noticed it, but DYO was very high in the iTune and Spotifycharts after the Semis and charted in 6-7 other Countries plus went platinum in Sweden before ESC and Double Platinum shortly after ESC. The Performance was innovative and the most professional on this Evening and can easily keep up with with the MTV-VMAs. His performance was even copied at AGT 2018 a few months later. After his Album, Benjamin became one of the biggest Superstars of ESC2018 with only 20 years if you didnt notice. There is a reason, why Juries rewarded him with 251 Points and thats definitive not "because its Sweden" ;)

People were laughing because Sweden ended up HIGH in the juryvote but was one of the first countries to receive their televoting points as they were low - that’s a shock and quite funny. It had nothing to do that it was Sweden, if it was the Netherlands, Macedonia, Spain or whatever country, people would think it’s as funny as well. xshrug

It didnt happen with Og3ne or Ira Losco if I remember right.

I know, you call other people's opinions BS when they are not alike with yours. Tell me something new!

I have never heard DYO once on German radio or in my top 100 Spotify charts. But I won't argue over this again. "Professional and innovative" is something very subjective.

We will see how Sweden will do this year and how Czech Republic that has a similar song as Benjamin last year.

Well O’G3NE and Ira Losco weren’t expexted to end up high in the televote and it was actually quite surprising they did so well in the juryvote. When Austria received their televoting points last year, you’d also could hear a reaction some people would classify as ‘a cheer’

No, I call Opinions BS which are out of Touch with Reality ;)
Yes, in Germany he wasnt successful, but except the italian Song, no Song reached Platinum-Status during ESC-Season in his own Country and Im sure Juries were aware of this.
The Performance was never seen before at ESC and the Idea and the Implementation are very smart. Has nothing to do with Subjectivity. Maybe I appreciate Hard Work.
CzechReps Song has btw. nothing to do with DYO. Its like saying :ch: is a Fuego-Copy ;)

When Sweden’s 21 points last year is in an YT video for most memorable moments in a video feauturing only song and performances, you know there’s something about Sweden out there...

That being said I’ve seen so many users screening or writing Sweden’s 21 points in their pics or mottos or whatever lol

Yes you can all claim that it’s not about Sweden being Sweden but they are definitely «mocked» in some ways - and yes this might not apply to you but it definitely exists so to deny this is blatantly stupid xshrug

this is why I want Sweden or Australia to win just to see the reactions around these board because whenever these countries do well there’s conspiracy theories from every corner lol

You are right about everything, I agree with every word! xrose
Only songs that went viral in many European countries, Spotify Global are "Dance You Off", "Fuego", "Lie to Me", "Toy" and "You Let Me Walk Alone".:) I've checked it properly back then!;)

And no, he wasn't in final because of coming from Sweden, but because people liked his song/performance, so Benjamin came 6th with the public vote in his semi ( if we exclude jury vote), so 6th out of 18 songs means final, even without jury and being Sweden. :)
Some people from here think that just because they don't love something it won't immediately be loved by anyone.

Plus, he received many fans across whole Europe, I saw pictures of many people from Spain, Hungary, Belarus going to his BxF autumn tour.

This song is nowhere near my favorites, but I still think it has not only chances of placing very high, but of winning the whole thing too.
It will definitely appeal to jury, and unless odd circumstances, people will vote for if. If Austria managed to end up 13th in televote and 3rd overall, I don't see why Sweden couldn't do the same, especially as it is more joyful than Austria last year.
Personnally I would take any other song over this, but it would be bad faith to deny its potential.

...but they are definitely «mocked» in some ways

People accusing of "mocking" (which, I agree, some people did) is different from assuming malignance in people's statements.

Don't take this too seriously. What about poor San Marino? How many times have they been mocked? Or Germany, for its poor NF choices? (Though, I agree with it to a certain extent... :D)

Still don't know why people are so upset about "Benjamin-gate", because, let's be honest, it was the worst Swedish song since ages. It's not that Sweden had a really outstandlingly good song and failed nonetheless. I would agree that this was "Sweden-hate" then.

Just take a look at Russia. I think they get much more hate. I remember people making fun of Alex V in 2011 because it was so low with the juries. Some people felt a lot of Schadenfreude (by the way, many Swedes ;-) because Alex was Eric Saade's number one competitor!). I didn't understand that either because I thought that Alex V was pretty good but I could understand why people were making fun of him for being put in his place.

Anyway, this is not about Benjamin or Alex or whoever, but John Lundvik and I am sure, this year you won't have to worry, because the public won't surely put him that low again!

Other Countries who are mocked like SM or DE can blame themselves, for not taking this Contest serious.
But there is no Justification to mock Sweden or Benjamin, only because theyre successful. Some people have no Clue how much hard Work and Effort they put in Eurovision.

I know, but it looks more aesthetic with Capital-Letters. German Orthography-Rules are better than the english ones.

No I disagree, if an other country had sent DYO and have had that stageshow it would still been 2nd with juries.
The song has a high quality in terms of production and the performance did bring something new to the ESC.
Benjamin was also very professional on stage.
Juries values those things.

And no I don't think the argument "not like the song" justify people to act that childish to be honest...
You could also see videos from the press-room and people in there dancing and celebrating.
Add all the comments in social media where pepole said that the moment when Sweden got the televotes was the "highlight of the night"...

Also all the hate that was directly against Benjamin last year was unacceptable and he even said in intrerviews after that he feelt the hate against Sweden...

Not to like a song and disagree with the juries is one thing, this was (and still is) something else.
And disgusting is a perfect word for it.

Have all of you guys quoting hate and disrespect forgot the video with Benjamin reacting to other 2018 entries, or have you just not seen it?

I still think the jury points for Benjamin were ridiculously, even suspiciously high and I still consider him coming so low with the public a huge satisfaction. Love this year's Sweden entry though.

That's being honest to me. Not hate though. Fans can say whatever they wanna say about every entry, why couldn't he? The worst thing for him is it's really bad for PR. A public figure should learn how to be diplomatic or you're in serious trouble.

to reiterate the point i thought was obvious earlier but i guess not: people who root against sweden do it at least partly (if not mostly) out of the constant "jealousy gets you nowhere" attitude, and that starts with björkman himself. the man gets closer to just being a cartoon villain with each passing year and people are still surprised some fans want to see sweden go down a peg? and the majority of the fanbase still loves sweden regardless lol. you guys can absolutely deal with a relative handful of people poking holes in the picture perfect-ness of sweden in eurovision without complaining all the time. i believe in you!!

also benjamin ingrosso did nothing wrong!!! (in 2018. this year he composed bishara's song. REPENT, BENJI.)

If it was only a respectful "honest reaction", there would be no need to take down the video. I wouldn't perhaps blame him of hate, but of disrespect - definitely.
