Re: SWEDEN 2012

I like ABBA, but I have no interest in watching a pale imitation of ABBA represent Sweden at ESC.

Second that, but if I had to chose though I'd rather have some real umpa-umpa schlager (Linda Bengtzing) than some milk-teeny-weeny pop-schlager (Eric Saade).

I hate almost every attempt at trying to combine schlager with pop/dance.

Trust me, get Sanna Nielsen on Eurovision, and she'll win everyone's hearts over. I can't believe Charlotte was chosen over Sanna in 2008.

I'm with you on that one :)
If Ell and Nikki, and Aleksander Rybak could win Europe's attention in 3 minutes, Sanna Nielsen could do the same :)

I'm not sure that Sanna Nielsen alone is the answer. I agree that Empty Room was a lot better than Hero, but I'm not so keen on Sanna's other MF entries. What's more, both Sanna and Charlotte's 2008 songs were written by the same guy.

I honestly don't think she could win with any of the songs she has entered. She probably would have gotten top 10 in 2008 and 2011 if they had sent her. But I feel like she has that star potential, and the amazing voice, for the right song. I just like Sanna a lot, ahah. In 2010, though, they could have come close to winning with Timoteij, IMHO.

And yeah, they were written by Ljunggren. He also wrote Carola's song in 2006.

xyeah bersides, in Sweden don't have another musical genere than ABBA Swedich Folk to wear in ESC in his songs as well..??

Offcourse we have Swedish folk, but it has been barely represented in our selection and I highly doubt we will ever send anything folky.

Obviously the ABBA-esque thing (schlager) is NOT our folk and it is NOT representing of anything that can be considered contemporary Swedish music either. It's a genre that lives on through MF only more or less.

Really? Sanna is just as stiff as Charlotte, I think it would end up just as with Charlotte.

We got interesting and good artists in Sweden, almost none enters MF, Sanna & Co does not really represent what's popular in Sweden at all.

Sanna doesn't look like an alien, though.
And I feel as if "Empty Room" was a much better song than "Hero". "I'm In Love" is also a pop song, but it shows off Sanna's vocals way more than "Hero" showed off Charlotte's.

a) "I'm In Love" is schlager, not pop.
b) I disagree about "I'm In Love" showing off Sanna's vocals more than "Hero" does to Perrelli. If you replace "I'm In Love" with "Empty Room" then I will agree! :p

Schlager is indeed a type of pop. ;)
And Empty Room shows them off THE MOST, but the ending and key change of "I'm In Love" shows off Sanna's voice way more than "Hero" did Charlotte's.

Re: SWEDEN 2012

The Swedish broadcaster SVT has revealed the people who will be in charge of the content in the six TV shows that make up the Melodifestivalen tour. The show used to select the Swedish Eurovision Song Contest entry will be more live next year after strong local criticism about the quality of the interval acts last year in the Swedish media.
The content is in the hands of two experienced enthusiasts, Henrik Johnsson and Edward af Sillén. They will be in charge of everything that the hosts say on stage, the postcards before the songs, show numbers, sketches and the interval acts. The emphasis next year is live and very few bits are going to be pre-recorded. As the biggest and most popular TV show in Sweden Melodifestivalen is locally about much more that selecting a song for Eurovision, and the apart from the songs and the contestants, the rest of the entertainment is important for the Swedish audiences.

Henrik Johnsson, content producer is already working with non-contest details of the show, even if the production group won't start their work properly until November. Edward af Sillén is the scriptwriter and director for 2012 and is also started the work on the show at the same time as the actual contest production. Christer Björkman is the Executive Producer from next year.

Henrik Johnsson has hosted the Melodifestivalen Second chance contest twice, done the audience warm-ups during the live tours and after parties, and been the manager for both Alcazar and The Poodles. Edward af Sillén has been responsible for the Melodifestivalen script already for two years, and also done the commentary of the Eurovision Song Contest for SVT.

There are no changes to the actual contest performances, which can still have pre-recorded backing vocals. A maximum of 8 people can be on the Melodifestivalen stage during the performances. Read the full rules in English here
