You mistake seriousness with popularity! ;) Eurovision is very popular in the UK, more British people watch it on TV every year than there are Swedish people in the world! Just because we take it less seriously and see it as almost a joint entertainment/comedy show rather than a music show does not mean that people dont like it! As for the fans... you just have to look at us on this forum :p
I can assure you Swedes that Euphoria is very popular here now, no need to worry! Never has a non-UK Eurovision song been so popular here! :D

Actually, it's not the total amount of viewers that indicated popularity (afterall the UK have quite a larger population than Sweden), it's the percentage of the population tuning in for the show that counts.

I saw she's #2 :) But do radio play her song? As I figured, without radio play in the UK, it's hard to have longevity on the charts.

Looks like Euphoria could enter the Austrian charts at #1.

This would be the highest new entry ever for a Eurovision song, and it must have been ages since a (foreign) Eurovision song was #1 in Österrike. I don't remember any song at the top spot. Lena and Katrina respectively peaked at #2.

Last year Jedward entered and peaked at #3, which was also very exciting. Charts are much more dynamic nowadays.

You're right, but I assure you that a show which can hit 10-12 million viewers, and averages over 8, is VERY popular in the UK. It's like the same popularity of Britain's Got Talent, The X Factor, etc - and they're the most popular shows here. The only time that TV ever really exceeds these sorta figures is for major events like the Royal Wedding, and what the Olympic Opening Ceremony will have, etc.
As for radio, I cant honestly answer that because I never listen to radio. But if it is still hanging on at #2 5 days after Eurovision, it is doing well, and has survived longer than the immediate post-Eurovision rush of the Sunday/Monday! It would be great if we could have a Eurovision entry in the top 5 when the Charts are updated next!

The biggest? ;)

How do you figure? Most britts I've spoken to either have no clue of what it is, or at least pretend they don't, or think it's gods punishment for our sins.

The British, mmm Sweden loves them xheartxheartxheartxheart

:shock::shock::shock:

It is still a total mystery for us that are totally shameless cheerers (at least 6 weeks per year). What is missing to get the British dancing in the streets? xcheerxcheer:)

When Loreen performed My heart is refusing me in Melodifestvalen 2011 it was a true eyepopper. Her strange moves, the avant-garde fashion look and her genuinely amazing singing. There was an interview where she appeared supercool in a black bodydress, answering with a slow contemplative low voice, slightly amused like everything was an illusive joke. A real woman, unbelievably sexy. It was the breathtaking singing that really caught me though. I was instantly in love. xheart

I think everybody was surprised and in chock, things went down very fast, a bit unlucky and suddenly she was out of the competition. I think she actually won Melodifestivalen 2012 with this performance. :)

Pretty interesting.

Now this gave me an idea.

She should totally open the ESC 2013 singing Euphoria in a Swedish version with Swedish folk elements :)

Did your hear that already?
Loreen will give her European television debut on German television at Stefan Raab's 'Autoball Europameisterschaft 2012' on 2nd June on ProSieben.

Also Linkin Park and Oceana (official Song of European Soccer Championship) will perform

It was my favorite for 2011 anyway, I'm not sure if it would have won or even placed better then that tween magnet Saade though. That's the thing with ESC you can guess who'll place high, but you'll never know until the very end ;)

Loreen's been playlisted on capital fm, one of the UK's biggest commercial music stations.

Great! :)

Ironically still though that BBC, responsible for ESC in the UK, doesn't play-list any ESC songs (not even their owns).
