Do I have the wrong impression or is the language that people use to express their dislike vis a vis the spanish entry harsher than in the case of other „edgy“ or „difficult“ ethno-entries from recent years? I didn‘t check but words like „wall of noise“ etc. were less frequent if used at all for instance in the case of Poland 2019.
Not to get me wrong: Nobody has to force him/herself to like something, but it seems to me that the tone is particularly mean when it comes to this one.

Well, Maneskin was also "a wall of noise" for many ESC "experts" in the Spring of 2021, and yet here they were yesterday attending Grammy Awards ceremony as a nominee.

Grammy´s are shit - "Unholy" by Sam Smith/Kim Petras got the award for "Best Duo Performance" even though the song is the worst pop song of the whole decade.

But yeah, I agree... some people think a song is "noise" whilst others love it..

Polarising entries are the ones which will be part of the Top 5 (if well-executed) (or bottom 5) - there´s nothing in between.. it will be interesting to see how far will go.

I couldn’t possibly rate it yet without knowing the lyrics, but I kind of imagined it as a devil-worshiping coven in a song circle! I think I’m way off!

PS: I’d actually like to see that.

The song is a lullaby of a mother dedicated to a deceased (lost) child.

This is so far a standout for me out of the seven chosen songs so far. Its my first of this season.

I already wrote in my previous comment why I love this so much so I won´t be repetitive with that.

Interestingly enough, while the song is rather polarizing, the current reception of the ESC community still seems pretty positive.

However, this entry definitely feels like an underdog compared to Chanel whom almost everybody already expected that she would do well.

But I love a dark horse story and I will be rooting for this just as hard as I rooted for Konstrakta last year.

I was truely mesmerized by Paloma's performance. The whole act is so fu.... spanish - and I LOVE that! (I still listen to Lola Flores... jeje... )
But Eaea without the live performance isn't by far as good. And without Blanca to too look at the song looses it's momentum after a minute and a half or so....
Still I ended up giving this a 10.
IF Fusa Nocta had been able to give a live vocal performance even reminiscent of this she Mi Familia would have been my personal winner (but she clearly wasn't..)

in my opinium absolutly no!
2022 was a great show act on stage with no real core (nearly nobody has noticed the studio version before benidorm 2022 started) - spain 2023 has a core and a big heart,too.
that is for me a huge difference.

Spain: I don,t understand anything about this and feeling old when i,m heard it. Maybe the problem is that i norwegian and don,t listen to songs like this. Yeah it going to stand out, but not in a good way for me.

Still i do think Spain going to get some points this year. I could see this going to be a hate/love entry in televoting and also some juries probably going to give here good points. Maybe another top 10 for Spain

Super excited for the third season! Spain has become one of my favorite Eurovision countries. They should stick with Bernidorm Festival. It's a great concept!

really like benidorm tbh. it's not perfect as sanremo and fdc but it will be there someday.

Benidorm is amazing as an NF, I'm really impressed. The only thing is that it doesn't need juries in the semi, it kills the excitement a little when you can figure out which songs the juries will support in the finale

I´m sorry but is my first of the season. These were three veeery long minutes for me ,this painful howling without any structure feels like listening to a fire alarm, afterwards you still have a irritating whisteling in your ear.

I don´t see this repeating the success of "SloMo" to be honest, it feels more like 2022 for me. Many fans will love this but people in front of the TV who don´t know anything about this kind of music and have no time to look up in literature on how "culturally valuable" this is will just be confused.

Better luck next year, this is really nothing for me.

I totally agree, I really have to downgrade this from to because of it being so painful. I will be very surprised if this will have success.
