I've tried. I've listened to ^^ dozens of times, trying to figure out what's so great about this because people whose opinions I hold in high esteem both on and off the forum really seem to adore it. But all to no avail. This wasn't emotional; it was just a mess. "Shouty" is one of the most overused complaints against big-voiced divas, but this was shouty. She wasn't hitting any of the notes, so she made up for it with shouting. I don't even mean the high part at the end; I'm talking about everything starting with "I don't need no alibi." I had my reservations about Ruth before the Copenhagen performance, but I really don't see how "Más" was light years better, or even better at all.

It was always more of a performance vs song deal when comparing Dancing In The Rain to Más. It kinda seems like Dancing In The Rain got as far as it did in the NF thanks to Ruth's performance, while Mas almost won the NF (with the best possible jury marks and practically a tie for first place in the televote) despite Brequette's rather subpar performance.

We'll never know how Mas could have done (I presume the nervous performance and other issues wouldn't have improved dramatically before ESC) but hey, Ruth's 10th place is more than alright at the very least, so there's that.
