Just recently watched her interviews with some medias, well I think she has a great personality. I also looked at her twitter and it seems that she made a lot of friends during ESC in Concert in Amsterdam yesterday. Big voice + beautiful song + nice attitude + one of the fans' favorite = nails it.

While I agree with most of what you said, I think her biggest downfall could be the way that she sort of loses control of her voice near the end of the song. :( If she works on that, she could do very well this year. xwoo

This is a perfect example of when a decent/average song is elevated to a new level due to a great singer. "Dancing in the rain" sounds really good live so it is now officially in my personal Top Ten (only 10th but still).

That's how I feel about Tijana but I don't feel the same here. Ruth may have a powerful voice but the song is nothing more than a showboat for her. I can't help but compare "Dancing In The Rain" to "Suus". Ruth's screaming feels empty and leaves me feeling cold. If you're going to scream make sure you've got something worth screaming to and for like Rona did.

You're totally off the hook on that one. I totally get why people wouldn't warm up to it. Plus the screaming part isn't my favorite, either. I actually like it until she goes all beserk on us screaming THE RAIN>>>>THE RAIN>>>DANCING>>> THE RAIN.

Yeah, that's why I just can't warm to it. It feels so hollow. It's a shame really as she's obviously got a good voice. It just hasn't been put to very good use here.. or it's been put to the wrong use you could say.

Perhaps i'm looking through rose tinted glasses but I remember her being extremely good when she was on the X Factor and actually quite moved by some of her performances. I was a different person back then thoughxshifty

No chance for Spain this year. TVE let a good chance go with Brequette's song. Betting odds never go wrong with Spain, so you'd better accept mediocre results for the Iberian peninsula again, as mediocre as the song is... I always said that: this is a song contest, not the voice, and eurofans just voted for a voice with a really bad song. A performance can be improved, a bad song can't... shame on Spain. Spanish eurofans never learn the lesson.

I've seen many mediocre songs reaching a great position with an awesome performance. I do not trust in betting odds and all this stuff (although it's obvious Spain won't win this year). I really think Ruth and TVE are promoting themselves like ever, so it's what counts for me.
Bad song? It's your opinion, there are people who really like it. I've been following the festival since 2001 and this year I'm very proud of the good job they are doing, whatever is the result.

Could you give us an (Eurovision) example ?

I can't really give a Eurovision example but I was wowed by singers like Whitney Houston when I was a young teenager. I can't bare that style of singing today and look for something different in singers. I don't care how loud someone can shout or for vocal gymnastics. Rona was a rare exception though as I felt something so deep from her song and interpretation.

Really? I don't think Ruth does what it would take to lift this very mediocre song. But that might of course change on May 10th.
What Pastora did with another quite average song a couple of years ago - THAT was an act that really turned stone into diamond!

"decent/average" is too nice from you...the song is horrible and annoying, cheesy as hell, only unicorns are missing. But yes, Ruth has good vocals so, it disguise how mediocre the song is. However, it's still far away from the stunning performing of Pastora, who also had a lame song. We'll see in CPH but I hope so hard this one flops because I'm tired of this Eurovision songs formula.
