[offtopic on] I am from Basque Contry. And we have a very great folk music. Is not so Celtic like Galician (remember in Galicia were more celtics cultures than other places of Spain), but we have some fussion o mix culture from celtic, france cultures...

One of our best folk artist is Kepa Junkera. He is a very good compositor and he plays very good the achordeon. See a video
He represent the fussion of the Basquish tradicional and modern cultures XD. (I know my english is bad XD).

Galician would be more likely, since they have a big ethno music scene and those songs should keep the original language. That's less common in Basque Country and even less in Catalonia, where the music has no differences than the rest of Spain ;)

Pablo, if you're trying to say that mainstream music in Catalonia is almost the same than in the rest of Spain... yes, you're right. But if you're saying that Catalan music (I mean, written in Catalan language) has the same features than Spanish music, I think you should listen to much more Catalan music ;)

I would love to see bands like Antònia Font singing in "mallorquí", for example, or any Basque band. But this is almost impossible due to political reasons. Sadly, Catalan bands have been too much related with Catalan nationalism, and as you're saying most of Spanish people wouldn't like to send a song in a language that they don't understand (even being part of their country).

But well, this is another issue, we're here to talk about Pastora (and her amazing voice :D ). I still can't believe we're sending such a great artist (and song) to Baku!

And how about sending Fangoria or Monica Naranjo next year? Alaska and Monica would rock the place.

Monica Naranjo would be great, but I don't know how people would react to Fangoria!

Hi to eveybody. Very important aclarations to the people:

1 This is NOT the final version, it's only the base. The estructure will be the same, of course, but so many arrengements and changes will be done and dramatic improved, especially in the first part ( boring for some people) and the end, for make the song more powerfull and emotional. The version you will listen in ESC are completely different, more dinamic and enjoyable. It's not an opinion, is a FACT confirmed by the singer and the composers. Still it's early to affirm it safely, but everything indicates that will be added some type of orchestral (blasts of violins and percussion) or rithym&blues base in the beginning, that will go being increased progressively up to the final climax. It will be a difficult and complicated choice, but if they succeed they can take the song to another level, even more impressive than already is.

2 It's understandable that the most part of europeans doesn't know Pastora Soler, but spaniards we know perfectly what this woman is capable in scene and the great capacity she has to transmit emotion to the audience. Isn't only a great voice, it's a experienced artist too (almost twenty years singing). The song will be amazing in terms of vocal quality, SURE. Not wrong notes, not problems with the breathing, not afraid, not nerves (before the action, certainly, but none at work). It's a totally sure bet for Spain and I hope that the audience can estimate it, because it's not easy do it.

3 Performance will be in the line of the song, nothing extravagant or weird this time. Will be sober and elegant because the singer prefers it this way, but sure, will have some special touch. What kind of touch? Impossible to know it now. But I'm sure that will surprise agreeably to all.

4 Sincerely, the majority of the spanish people all the same to us win or not. But we would like to come at least as minimum to the Top 10, because we believe really that it would be just enough for the great effort this year, but clearly it's not the principal aim. Whatever happens, people in this country are very proud of the choice that we have done, that's the more important point.

Greetings from Spain to all.

Gaff, bienvenido! :)

I am sure that Pastora can go as high as Top 5. Or even higher. ;) This one is the strongest contender so far.

What I was trying to say is that most music in Catalan don't have that ethno vibe that forces you to stick to the language, unlike the Galician ones. Even most of the Spanish songs wouldn't make a difference if they were sung in English ;)

It's reasonable that many of these bands are somewhat connected to any kind of nationalism, but the most importants bands usually perform outside their region, so they are not so connected to politics. So I don't really see political problems. Also the majority of the rest of Spain could live with that, despite some ultra... We can live with that :)

And yeah, Pastora is amazing :D And I hope this might open the way to other big names, such as Malú or Merche, who have also performed in Spanish NF, just like Pastora did last year. That would be awesome! :D

This is what I was about to say. Pastora attended to the NF last year and nowdays is our representor... maybe the same thing can happen with Malú next year :D or even Bustamante, who knows

Returning to the song, I actually love it not just for the music and melody, but for Pastora voice and how she performs it. The song fits like a glove to Pastora, it's perfect for me, and I think that only a very few people can sing Quédate Conmigo that good.

Hmm yeah, Bustamante better stays home :p

That's right, Malú have been in Spanish NFs twice, this one and last year as far as I know. It seems that we already have performer for ESC 2013, Malú!!

Whatever happens, I can finally say that I'm proud of my country. It would be a total disaster for the 8th time in a row (I loved Lucia, though), and this year we can expect something. Let's see if we like all around Europe, although a good position from the juries is pretty possible.
And let's wait for the final version of the song... As she has said in eurovision-spain, she will make Quédate conmigo rich with musical arrangements so the song will be able to hook on before

Possibly more instrumentation. The song may be boring at the beginning, so something to make it more catchy. Good backing vocals too... Lots of things.

I think if Pastora brings from Baku a good result, maybe other popular spanish singers like Malú would be willing to represent Spain in the coming years. But if she gets bottom 5 again...Well, then we'd better forget about any big name wanting to represent us even again

I don´t think people would mind to send a song in another Spain's language. The problem, as you say, is many groups would use it for propaganda purposes of their political interests. As andalusian, i wouldn´t mind to send a song in galician, a celtic one, because i love them, and i consider as a part of this country's culture. But as i said, many people would use it to create an atmosphere of extreme tension about politics, as we already have seen in sports, for example. I consider many things has to change about respect between both sides, before we can see the rest of our languages in ESC.

About understand the song or not, i think is something silly, because they can make 2 versions of the song easily: one in castillian to promote the song inside Spain and the official one in galician, basque, catalan, astur or whatever, to send to Esc. ;)
