Re: ESPAÑA - Spain 2011

I'd like that every country sings in their own language.... This way it gets too silly, the Eurovision is slowly loosing that "Euro" part.... To me the charm of Eurovision lays exactly in the variety of the languages used....

Agree! Now it's only a contest for Anglophiles, and the juries are making it even more clear that songs in native language and with ethnic elements should NOT be a part of this! :(

And I think Spain is the only country, with Serbia, Slovakia and Italy that never sang in English :D

Spanish is one of my fave languages. It would be pity if your entry would be in English when you have such beautiful language. Just keep sending entries in Spanish :D

Nobody said it must be ;) For me Spanish language fits into songs great and is pretty spoken all over the world, so I don't see a reason why would you send songs in English.
So what if Turkey sends songs in English  I don't think it's the reason they got high positions.

Yes, but at time of voting calling mostly of the points who my motherland get at the end are place in mediocres positions, and no all Europe undertand our language even the song is good.. Spain must risk to seend something in English for first time to see it..)) Turkey before Sertab victory when was sending songs in Turkich, they are ending in bad-mediocre and horribles positions and cpuples ones songs ones was really apreciates, before they discover the importance to sing in Engl - (Plus the televoting) and Russia, Ukraine are do the same, and atfer that, they had the success Machine to shinne in the stage and in the votings.. España deberia arriesgarse un poco y mandar en English )) y yo estoy a favor ))

Pues, yo creo que no! Lo que todos deberíamos hacer, es mandar las canciónes cada uno en su propio idioma!
I really don't see a reason why would anyone send a song that is representing his country and do it in english? I mean besides UK ;o) What's wrong with my own language? Why should I care that the others don't understand the lyrics... That's what the spirit of Eurovision should be! Diversity!

Why.. only for just to encourage more diaspora/jury votes among countries that most understand the language your song..?? i don't had nothing against this, but must you must think that this would carry risks when the public and jury vote...and good & bad example of that was saw in the lastests years.. its more sure that go sure in English or in Spanglish for Spain this time, cause will be more apreciated and valoured by everybady 4 sure, cause Spain had almost 50 years sining in Spanich and only they won twice and few high places in the 60s & 70s, and a second place in the 90s and several top 10 at the beginning of the past decade and the majority of our songs wasn't apreciate a lot by the Europeans if they dont sing in English ))

Re: ESPAÑA - Spain 2011

First of all, I don¡t think that a song in English guarantees to do well ;)

I wouldn't mind a song in English if people chose it, but I also think that our song must represent our musical industry and culture and the fact is that more than 90 % of our songs are sung in Spanish ;)
And Spain hasn't done so well lately because for different reasons our songs didn't appeal to most Europeans, whether we like it or not.
What's more, I know that everyone in Europe can't understand Spanish, but it's also true that many of them do and our language doesn't sound really weird to most Europeans as many others. Most people are kinda familiarized with Spanish language especially in music, even if people can't speak or understand it :)
