However, has anyone else but me noticed that there is still no official clip and version of our song in the official ESC YT chanel? Does this mean that the song is undergoing some final changes/improvements before submitting it? What do you think guys?

Someone wondered if it was because of their label (Universal Music Slovenia) xthink RTV SLO could have sent their live performance (like last year for Lea Sirk) to the Eurovision youtube channel.

It's strange indeed, as far as I know, Zala & Gasper have not hinted there would be a revamp.

I know current betting odds don't mean much, but I've followed Slovenia's journey since January and the turn of events is quite encouraging:

-Slovenia was ranked 36th (out of 42) to win earlier this year and until EMA 2019 was held, which means snippets didn't create any hype as far as gamblers are concerned.
-After "Sebi" won the NF, Slovenia went from 36th to 26th in a few days.
-As of now, they are 19th (out of 41) and their odds remain blue (meaning they're shortening).

I post this here so that we can compare their placing once all the entries are out. :)

I think after a few rehearsals this will go into the top 10 of the odds.

I wish, it would be so nice if for once we get all the attention at the ESC

But to be true, I think that Zala and Gašper are taking the whole thing very seriously. I don't know why but this silence from them (there is still no official version and final cut at the ESC YT channel) gives me impression that they are still working the song. This was never done before by our participants, and I am almost certain that they will carefully think about staging. If they get it right, this could really give us the best result in years.

As for the fanwank reproach, well, ironically, Slovenia is "only" fourth in the rankings after the fifth round of votings. Clearly, Slovenia isn't as hyped this year as we were, say, in 2015. So, I don't think that our entry this year is an ESC fanwank ;)

Okay, this is growing on me now.

Slovenia's going to get their best result in the contest with this. You can quote me on that.

Slovenia is not getting anywhere close to qualifying this year. Neither with televotes, nor with the jury. Quote me on that.

They're in fourth position of 17 in this forum right now... xboring

Yes, lots of things can happen until May arrives, but they're not Macedonia.

It's like a modern version of Lativa to me. It goes nowhere. Don't get the hype at all.

I thik juries might have this in their top 10, but it will do absolutely nothing with the televoters.

Check Portugal 2018. 7/43 overall. Flop queen of 2018.
The same destiny of all non-progressive songs like this: At first listen it gives you nothing, then you start to appreciate overall structure, but most casual viewers don't get that chance.

The best thing about this song is the background music for me, and when it's sung live it's overshadowed by dead vocals of the main singer. And it's in Slovenian so no one will get the meaning of those spoken words.

I thought this would be much better, considering it's a fave here in the forum.:? It's decent, ofc, but it doesn't give me any special feelings, nothing interesting happens there while the song plays.

Exactly, it needs a few listen to fully appreciate it. It grew on me since the national final, where I gave a 2. Now it's more a 5 (it won't get higher, it's too repetitive for my taste).
Unfortunately the casual viewers in May won't have this opportunity, especially as the staging won't draw a lot of attention.

Good staging can melt those walls away though. Like, it not like Zala & Gašper need much. The camerawork and backdrop need to create an immersive atmosphere and if Slovenia can achieve this, it will be pure magic. Failing to do so will ensure an NQ and Robbed Gods status.

Like, it seems pretty clear to me that Zala & Gašper are the ByeAlex/Norma John/Ieva of their semifinal: an offbeat, unpretentious entry which stands out for offering something different without any strings attached. I foresee that they will finish somewhere between 7th and 13th in the semi, outside of the top 10 with the juries and inside the top 10 with the audience. If they qualify, I fully expect them to hunker down on the left hand side of the scoreboard, with moderate support from both demographics.

The official version is out. Different cut, less off chorus in the end. It sounds better to me. Just like I suggested couple of days ago.

The problem here is her lack of charisma and apathy. She actually has negative charisma, not only does she not connect with the viewers, she actually repels their empathy.
For fans and people like us that listen to the song for a long time it's not a problem, we appreciate it for what it is and see the quality in it. But for viewers that will be watching for the first time on the live show, her lack of connection to the camera can be a truly big problem, especially for this type of song. And those are problems Ieva and ByeAlex didn't have.
Of course this can be worked, and we've seen instances where singers with low charisma can do well. One example is Blanche, but at least she actually showed some emotion and smiled, and the song was stronger.
Either way I'm hoping Slovenia can pull it off, it's easily one of the best songs on the first semi-final.

Zala doesn't have negative charisma lol. She has one of those faces you'd perhaps expect to see on Downton Abbey, but several here were instantly charmed by her and Gasper's lowkey romantic gestures (such as when he subtly holds hands with her at several intervals during the song). They just need to do more of the cute things + have it framed well by the camera.
