She was much better than in the NF, her stage presence was much better. Before she did some weird facial expression once in a while but tonight she was very good. I don't think it was far away from qualifying.

I was so disappointed by this song from our country that I didn't watch any of the semifinals for the first time since they introduced them. Glad it didn't qualify.

This performance was just... forgettable. Nothing wrong with it but it was sandwiched between Australia and Bulgaria so it was bound to get lost.

I don't get the point of that pole-dancer!

The pole-dancer was supposed to recreate the idea of "flying out of her life". You know, she is red, he is blue, these two don't mix, so her world was spinning in her head, and he had to go. Basically, this whole pole-thing was supposed to realize how she saw this guy (she is leaving) at the end of their relationship.

But, hey, I didn't get this either until I heard her explaining the whole concept behind the staging. The same thing happened to me with Poli Genova and her futuristic dress/costume which is supposed to represent Poli as a soldier of love :)

I don't see the point criticising the staging, other very arguably worse songs qualified with no better. At least the pole thing was more original looking than say the Israeli gimmick. I don't know who would vote for that guy lol.

She was quite good both vocally and visually. The performance was nice and I think she did everything she could. The song is simply too mediocre and it was obvious it won't go anywhere. So, in the end, a predictable result.

Hope for something much better from :sl: next year.

I saw the performance now, why did she keep doing that stupid bow? She's not Japanese?

Too bad we wasted a good stage show on this performance, while all Maja got in 2011 was 4 women to walk around with her.

No. People are talking like the Australian song is a potential winner but that's much more based on the vocal than either the staging or the song. And the Russian one is talked of as the winner purely based on his staging.

So, based on this, both :ru: and :au: are mediocre songs as well, is that what you want to say? I don't see any other reason to mention these two songs when I have only commented on the :sl: performance xshrug

No you were also talking about the song, at least from what you said, see my quote.

Now that's weird. I have never paid much attention to the song before, but now after the semi it keeps popping up in my mind, and I even enjoy it.

Must be a sign how good ManuElla really was. She left an impression. I hope she comes back one day.

good stage show? I thought slovenia's staging this year was completely random and messy, the gymnast guy flying around in a circle was more of a distraction from her singing than helping to enhance the performance and it's like it was added for the sake of it. I've already said in this thread before what I think, but they could have staged it so much better tbh.

I mostly meant the light show, but yeah that gymnast was really random and did not connect to the song in any way.

Thanks to all the juries and everyone who voted for Ukraine. I am convinced that Eurovision 2017 in Ukraine ( Lviv, Kyiv, Odessa) will be gorgeous!

you're welcome

In my opinion ManueElla did a great job, tried her best to spice up an average song with confident performance and good singing. The acrobat took just the right amount of attention, the dress was cool, vfx as well. Surely a final would be nice, but all in all the result seems fair.

I didn't really follow the backstage happenings this year, but from the few short interviews I've seen, she seemed to be cherishing the Stockholm experience and really trying her best.

That's why I must also point something out that I find really disappointing. This forum should be "uniting Eurovision Fans", fans who understand how much hard work goes into these final three minutes on stage. Not every song will be liked, personal opinions will differ and that's the charm of it. But to feel the need to keep insulting and belittling the same artist on a weekly basis, making up your own humiliating nicknames for them, criticizing every effort they make,... I don't think that's what true Eurovision fans do.

If I was a performer I know I'd stay away from the likes of tv article comment sections, but I would wander onto this forum (possibly even lurk all days like Raay did) and while I'd accept each unique criticism, I'd really get fed up with some people repeating themselves like a broken record. Hell, I'm just another forum member and that's one of the reasons I was barely in this thread this year.

I agree with you - but only in part. Allow me to add only one tinny thing to your post: the critique/criticism is not a problem as long as it properly worded without offenses, however, once this line is crosses, yep, it always becomes nasty. But sometimes, you must also read comments of people here and in other forums as being simply naughty - not everyone can be all the time politically correct in expressing him-/herself. So, yeah, up to some point, I support your post, but not all the way :)

Besides, ManuElla (despite all her extasy of this amazing Stockholm experience) is not really deserving such support as you just demanded for her. And I am saying this because of her first reaction for RTV SLO after not-qualifying. As I remember, she said something like: "Oh, how could Georgia qualify and we haven't? I will start beliving that this show is all about politics." Well, only a sore looser can say such atracious thing. ManuElla, if you ever read this, never bash your competition if you fail. Take as an example Greta from Iceland: that is how you decently take low blows that life has in pocket for you - with pride and smile.

So, ManuElla, thank you, but no thanx in future to you if you come ever again with such a mediocre song. After all, 90% of fans here predicted already in February that she stands no chances at all of qualifying. If she was down to earth, she would prepare herself at least for loosers-speech better and wouldn't say such stupid things as she did.

So, this is my point of view. See ya guys.

I think the Georgia song qualified purely on the effects, it really wasn't as good as this one at all. I understand her frustration.
