Slovenia: Eva Boto to Baku with Verjamem

Moments ago, the final of Misija EMA 2012 came to it's conclusion with 16 year old Eva Boto taking the coveted prize and with it earning the right to represent Slovenia in the Eurovision Song Contest with the song Verjamem.

Slovenia's Misija Evrovizija, the competition to decide their singer for the 2012 Eurovision Song Contest kicked off back in Autumn 2011. A total of 32 contestants battled it out and a number were eliminated week by week. Eva Boto and twins Nika & Eva Prusnik shook off all opponents to win the two tickets to tonight's final called Misija EMA 2012.

After the two finalists were known, broadcaster RTVSLO called for song submissions. This attracted not only interest from Slovenian songwriters, but also some from Denmark, Iceland,Croatia and Malta.

Tonight's show was hosted by Klemen Slakonja, who had hosted all of the Misija Evrovizija series of shows.
Three songs each in first round

The show was opened tonight by last years Slovene representative Maja Keuc and host Klemen Slakonja performing an alternative version of the 2011 winner from Azerbaijan Running Scared. A total of three songs were performed by Eva Boto and Eva & Nika Prusnik in the following order:-

Eva Boto - Run
Nika & Eva Prusnik - Konichiwa
Eva Boto - A Si Sanjal Mej
Nika & Eva Prusnik - Malo Sreče
Eva Boto - Verjamem
Nika & Eva Prusnik - Love Hurts

In the first round of voting, a 50/50 split of professional jury and public televoting decided which one of the three songs was the best suited for each act.

In the first interval act, some of the former eliminated contestants of Misija Evrovizija returned to sing their favourite song from their earlier performances.
Super final

When this was decided Eva Boto and Nika & Eva Prusnik returned to perform that chosen song. From there, it was 100% down to the public televote to choose the best entry for Slovenia. The two chosen songs were:-

Eva Boto - Verjamem
Nika & Eva Prusnik - Konichiwa

An interval act was held featuring Anggun, the French representative in 2012, Nuša Derenda, Maja Keuc and Darja Svajger, Emilija Kokić and Maja Keuc herself singing the 2011 Slovenian entry No One.

Slovenia will perform in the second half of the Second Semi Final of the 2012 Eurovision Song Contest on Thursday 24th May in Baku.

She's very young.

Love it! For me, eveything is perfect in this song, except those things on their heads, but it's not a problem.
I see Vladimir Graic signed composer (he did 'Molitva' for Serbia), I'm not surprised this song contain 'drama' elements, lol.
Well, very strong entry for Slovenia, I'll vote for this, I think it will qualify

Oh my God WHY!?!? She better re-think this!

I want EBU to finally DO something about what's happening to Eurovision! The contest is DYING imo! I want new rules that states that if a song is chosen in a particular language, you can't change the language for ESC. People voted for a song in Slovene and that's what they should get, since the language of choice was free in this selection, it's fooling the voters to change it for ESC.

Ok sorry but I completely lost interest for this entry now, the juries will eat it up like last year, but to me in English this has almost zero effect on me. Sorry Slovenia, bad move.

Yet another record of English only songs in ESC, and if this will continue we will have ZERO national languages in just a couple of years from now, so much for EUROvision huh?

I mean it's not even that type of entry? Do these people even understand what entries they present? They are just desperate to fish for the jury votes. Gosh I'm upset now *takes a pill and relax*.

This sounds like a mix between Molitva and Zbudi se.

It was the best in the selection I think, but this song isn't as good as it's predecessors.

I know right? It's not even logically. To me it makes no sense to have an entry with ethnic elements and then change to English which clearly has nothing to do with it.

It's one thing if it's just a westernized pop song, but songs like this? One big BOOO from me!

Eurovision has taken such big steps into becoming Anglovision, I almost re-consider if a re-introduced language rule is the only way to save this? I can feel so much desperation from countries at the moment, it's so blatant and kind of sad, it feels like "freedom of choice" isn't really working.

I blame the juries, because we saw more native languages aswell as ethnic music before they came back, they have no sense for anything local. It's not a coincidence that when they came back we see a major decline in local elements (languages and/-or music styles). As long as the juries works against the very soul of this contest, I can't see anything helping this at the moment.

Agree, English makes no sense in entries like these, in contrary it just takes away the whole mood. If they had so little confidence in the songs from the get-go, they shouldn't have made them in the first place.

I really hope for a major backlash, I think countries shouldn't get away with sending stuff like this and make it all faux and desperate with English.
