Oh I hope this is true!

One of my all time favorite ESC countries (but unfortunately one of the most mistreated ESC countries of all time aswell imo).

I forgive them for the cheese they send in 2011! Just come back with a great entry and hopefully Europe and juries will finally appreciate you!

07/10/2011. According to the RTVS programme director, Slovakia refused from taking part in ESC 2012.
Unless they find additional funds until December.

So far, they withdrew.

I can understand them though. I was surprised they actually took part in 2011 (oh well I guess it was a "friendly political stunt" because Germany was the host).

But again, I understand them. They are one of those "in between" countries that doesn't belong to any active voting bloc, doesn't have strong "political allies" and doesn't have much diaspora to help out.

oh well, I guess their performer paid for themselves (like in Moldova, Belarus or Ukraine)

tbh they could withdraw in 2011 already if they haven't been approached by sponsors.
I'm not sure if this helps in 2012 as they are funded a lil' bit differently now.

I hoped, they wiould participate in 2012, but quite expected this. I hope they will come back soon - they had many nice songs, "Horehronie" for example was a great one.

Horehronie is an AMAZING song imo.

The live execution didn't do the song any favor though, but in the end this is a song contest and it deserved so much better.

I still haven't gotten over how unfairly treated this was.

Oh well...

hopefully they change their mind, but I wouldn't be surprised if they don't

I am a realist. They've already got few local shows which will be a substitude for ESC.
Though anything can happen until December, yeah.

That's a pity really! I loved Horehronie (this was my vote in the semi), and I really liked "I'm still alive", so I was looking forward to the 2012 Slovak entry :-(...
