Re: SERBIA 2019
Great show last night, I was really pleased with both the stage (best Beovizija stage ever probably and the only "modern one" they ever did) and the hosts.
I got 5 out of 6 finalists correctly
Even though I found Mr Doo horrific from the start, I thought he will make it through, but luckily, that didn't happen. All finalists deserved to pass, although I was hoping that Extra Nena will somehow make it through. She absolutely deserved it
Here are the impressions about the songs:
1.
Funked Up - I love this song and I found their act very nice and entertaining, but it was obvious that they will not make it through
There were better songs (and acts) last night.
2.
Aleksandra Sekulić - I am so glad I was wrong here
The song is great and she deserved to pass. I have to admit, though, it wasn't very convincing live, but I'm sure she will be better in the final.
3.
Osvajači - Very bland overall. The staging and the effects were nice but the song is mediocre. Expected result here.
4.
Dunja Vujadinović - Never liked the song, but she was pretty good last night. The effects were great and she sang flawlessly. Still, an expected outcome, the song just a big no-no.
5.
Mr Doo - This has to be one of the worst stagings that I've ever seen in my entire ESC career. When Sanja Ilić said that "the staging is something never seen before", he was right - nobody ever managed to come up with something as horrible as this. This deserves negative points.
6.
Saska Janx - Very disappointing performance from Saska. This was just one big 0. I liked the effects on the LED screens and that's it. The costume is horrible, her singing was very questionable. She will be better on Sunday, but I think her chances of winning are extremely low right now. Last year she managed to lift a very bland entry with a marvelous performance, and this year she ruined a good song with her staging. I wouldn't like to see this in Tel Aviv.
7.
Ivan Kurtić - He was one of the best ones last night. Top-notch singing and a very interesting performance. Mika Newton volume 2
I wouldn't be surprised if he actually won the semi. He deserves to end well, but I definitely wouldn't like to see him on ESC. This type of music is only meant to be consumed in the Balkan area.
8.
Sofija Perić - While the song is nice and catchy, she wasn't very convincing and her vocals were shaky. She will probably end somewhere in the middle on Sunday if she improves.
9.
Extra Nena - She deserved to pass
She was absolutely amazing vocally and the song is pretty good. It's dated, but she was better than most people who performed last night. I imagine that she ended low on televoting and somewhere near the top in jury voting. Sadly, it wasn't enough.
10.
Eleonora - This was so horrible that it doesn't deserve a single comment. Worst song overall and the second worst staging of the night. Only Mr Doo is actually even worse.
11.
Ivana Vladović & Wonder Strings - Ivana was very nervous, but overall, I am very happy with this performance. They were my favorites before this semi and they were my #1 favorites after the show ended
Even Balkanika's drummer was great
I wouldn't mind this song as the overall winner.
12.
Nataša & Una - This was by far the best staging and the best performance. I am very positively surprised. I even sent them some votes
I liked the song from the start as well. They might surprise on Sunday.
