:( I am so not looking forward to next year's edition... whilst they had some horrible entries (2009, 2013), their others well & truly eclipsed them. Nothing beats a Balkan ballad for me and it seems next year we might not be getting any :(

No, you can't leave.
Only one balkan country out at a time, please.

I feel sad. :( Seems like the number of contestants is really getting lower this time.

People from OGAE Serbia are doing their best, they even appear on various TV and radio shows lobbying for :rs: to appear in Copenhagen, they will try to contact some people from the Government (if possible) as well.........and, well, chances are low, but we will not give up. If everything fails, at least we will know that we tried everything and that we didn't just sit there starring at the ceiling, as they say.

Marija Šerifović finally came out and publicly declared herself as lesbian and she become second publicly declared LGBT singer in Serbia (after young singer Milica Pavlović did the same earlier)

Just days after she came out as a bi right? xthink

Next step is she's coming out as a transgender...

I mean she's practically just revealing what everyone already knows...

Either way the fact that she did come out is a brave thing to do in that part of Europe. Congrats to Marija! xsalute

Also its easy to roll our eyes when someone only comes out as bi first then later gay but considering that part of Europe its understandable. She would have a better excuse then people in the US and UK that's for sure.

Some people who first say they're bi is because they haven't completely found their sexuality yet.

Completely true but I was talking about celebrities who want to inch out cause they fear for their careers even when they know for a fact their gay and not bi, like A-lister was suggesting. It people like those who give those who are actually bi a bad name.

She never had to say anything though, her whole appearance and persona spoke for itself!

I'm pretty sure Marija found out her sexuality long ago

But yeah, I do get what Scooby and GWTW1939 mean. Serbia may not be the most "gay-friendly" nation in Europe and coming out officially may effect one's career (although that's actually an issue in even more "open-minded" countries aswell).

A new commercial television network, which will begin broadcasting in Serbia tonight, called Nova TV, has offered to air and send Serbia’s representative to the 2014 Eurovision Song Contest after public broadcaster RTS pulled out citing financial reasons. “It wouldn’t be the first time a commercial television network participated in a country’s Eurovision entry. Eurovision is one of the biggest competitions in the world, watched by millions of people, and it would be sad to Serbia miss an opportunity to send a representative”, Nova said, adding it is willing to organise Serbia’s national selection and air the event.

According to previous reports, the EBU has given RTS until mid-January to make a final decision on whether it wants to pull out of the contest.
