I expect even worse this year when there is less Eastern countries, jury will vote only for West, and next year more withdrawals.. ;)

I don't understand this decision. Is it because of the bad result last year? That's the only reason I can see here. Don't even try to invoke the "economic situation" argument, because we can see through the Greek case that that situation is not the most relevant factor. Besides, Serbia won in 2007 and has reached the 3rd place in 2012. They know they can have a good result. Their non-participation is very sad (and we won't be able to listen to their beautiful language this year). :(

You don't know about situation here, ESC is not that popular any more, and interest among singers and songwriters for ESC is extremely low, so please inform yourself before comment like that! :? ;)

I'm sorry if I seemed rude in my comment. It was not my intention.

However, everything I had read was that the tv channel was also facing economic problems. I didn't know about the lack of popularity of ESC there now (I find that really weird taking into account their victory and other good results). So, can I ask you... do you understand, as a Serbian person (not as fan, of course), this non-participation? (so that we can have an insider point of view)

I understand it...and after death of Tijanic, director of RTS, I understand even more..and i'm even not sure if i want Serbia ti take part..I think that jury ruined many things in ESC..and not to mention this new system of voting.. :(

Could someone clarify for those out of the loop who Tijanic was and why his death meant withdrawal?

Tijanic was the only one in the channel who wanted Serbia to stay in ESC. But, sadly, he died in October (I think).
He was the man who said: "Serbia have the moral obligation to stay in Eurovision because ESC gave us better results than football"
It's sad because I read here that people in Serbia were happy for his death.

It's not true. Of course if you read the comments on Internet Portals here you woud find some spiteful comments for sure (Like at least we dont have to pay the RTS subscriprion anymore OR he was annoying) but they are huge minority and we can't say its general attitude of the nation that we are 'glad he died'.
After all what kind of a person you need to be to gloat over someone's death (regardless of your opinion on him/her). :|
