I still wonder what San Marino would have been able to achieve if they had chosen this song in 2018

Tumblr, mostly.
The main con/offender is the repetitiveness.
The main con/offender are the 30 seconds of goat noises near the end. Jesus christ for fucking why.

Well, that and the questionable metaphors. I can't say I've heard many songs that managed to hit "accidentally predatorial" as their main vibe, but here we are, smelling women like we're animals, and "complimenting" them on their serpentine eyes, amongst other things.

I guess I´m immune cause I heard way worse lyrics than that. xshrug
(I´m talking about non ESC related songs, but I am sure that even in the scope of Eurovision history you can find some questionable lyrics if you dig deep enough).

The vocal is meh, but once again, it didn´t draw that much attention for me.

Lowkey, I though he said "spin you like an animal"

On a positive note, it sounds a bit British, doesn't it?
Other than that, it doesn't really 'pique' my interest. The 2nd and 3rd placed songs were a better fit, tbh.

Good luck, San Marino.

They want to pay tribute to :br: Emerique's bird sound obviously.

For me those "goat noises" are about the only redeeming feature as actually the main melody does nothing for me.

This song is getting a lot of crap by some reason. I don't really get why though, I enjoy it. Is there some controversy around this entry that I have missed?

The lyrics are slightly controversial and there were apparently songs that appealed more to ESC united in their NF.

For me (and many others) this entry has almost no redeeming qualities. It is just there.

Is the controversy that the lyrics are too sexual?

Predatory and "machoist". Also perceived as as too random. Somewhat sexual can be fine, if well done.

I am not bothered but some are.
Lol after your explanation the singer just comes off as creepy to me. I can't unsee him asanything but a creepy predator now...

Worst song of the year by some distance. Awful song and lyrics. Would find better down my local pub.

I've rarely seen an entry with so little fan reaction or engagement with the entry.

On a separate note, the sound quality in the national final performance was appalling.

I can't help wondering, if Achille Lauro had qualified and got a respectable final placing last year, would more high profile Italian acts have expressed interest in representing SM this year? Is it the ridiculous national final that puts them off, or credibility issues associated with representing San Marino?

Also, if SM has a streak of NQs, would it be tempted to leave Eurovision altogether? Does the benefit outweigh the cost of participating if SM NQs every year?

Last SM entry I liked was Senhit in 2021, before that would have to go back to Valentina Monetta in 2013. I really wish a decent song in Italian with some local flavour would represent SM, Achille Lauro was a step in the right direction but sadly the song was poor

A-lister's annual review:

So this is one big pile of sh*t, wth!? Are we being trolled? It's a bit as if we would mix Bulgaria 2022 but throw the most ridiculous nasty troll lyrics on top of it.

I still don't understand why San Marino doesn't internally pick one of the non-winners of Sanremo? That is an option that certainly should be explored...

Yeah, they won’t win the Pulitzer with those lyrics, but I‘ve heard worse too. They‘re just cliché machos which bother me, even as a female, not at all. Nobody did mind Chanel doing her boom boom zoom zoom watch my booty last year.

SloMo lyrics are in my view more questionable than lyrics written by a man whose sexual drive for women is predatorial as such as long as it's disconnected from rational and emotional reaction.

SloMo's lyrics were performed by a woman who agrees to this type of objectivization of women. Women's task should be to speak against that.

As for Piqued Jacks, the lyrics are a clichée and may be obsolete for today's understanding of heterosexual relationships based on mutual respect and understanding, however, what he sings about is heterosexual man's sexual drive and how it distorts rational view of a woman and attributes to her his own fascinations or characteristics she doesn't have in fact.

This is how psychology of most heterosexual men still works, we women know that 🤣 and are not offended by that. Actually, those men who talk about women like this are regularly something like Kaarija - drinks pina colada by a bar, stares and winks, and has no courage to speak or approach. 🤣

Personally, I describe such heterosexual men talk as: "Every monkey has his banana to play". 🤣

So please, don't be too harsh against such lyrics, some of them, even far worse alluding to explicit forms of domination and etc., have even helped the demographics in the West. Just ask the Boomers. 🤣

P.S. I'd totally objectivize the vocalist here 😁, he and the guy from Slovenia are the hottest men of ESC 2023. 😍
