Re: SAN MARINO 2012 - Valentina Monetta - Facebook, Uh, Oh, Oh

This entry won't be disqualified. This is not a National Final winning song. EBU and Eurovision staff were already aware of this song before it was released. This was an internal selection entry, so EBU knew about it.
Until it's officially submitted EBU is not going to intrude.

+ judging from our own 2010 experience they've already warned them

They should change Facebook to Myspace. They're probably desperate for the help.

Well, they have to change the lyrics because it is against EBU rules.

If they'll allow it, then surely all my ideas about money hungry EBU that doesn't care about their own rules if they get cash, are all true. Is Facebook a sponsor of ESC this year perhaps?

This is business!!!!

No, seriously. I don't think the song is promoting Facebook (does Facebook needs more promotion? It's already so popular.). Yes, she is singing about a particular social networking service. At the end of the day, they could have chosen Twitter or any other online social networking service, because that's the point. The song is about people's relationships on internet. So, they chose Facebook. Yeah, it sucks but I got their point.

Actually, I decided this is a pure brilliant move by San Marino! It really got people talking!

Would people even bother talk about the rumored track posted previously on here? I doubt it.

San Marino - Marketing genius of ESC 2012 xcheer

So EBU rules only apply to the songs that were chosen by running a national final? That's really weird if you ask me.
Now i hear in case it gets disqualified San Marino has another song in store.

If we think about it for second, even if you don't use Facebook you're likely well aware of it and what it is about.

I doubt this song will make much difference to anyone in terms of advertisting.

Now i hear in case it gets disqualified San Marino has another song in Apple app store.

Fixed that for you.

No no no, he was wrong. EBU doesn't have any say in the entries in our national selections, they only judge the submitted ones.

Oh I love this

Seriously, who hasn't been online bitching around on Facebook?
This song is about real life indeed!
I'm gonna give this only 10 points, cause I think the song should have stronger music.

But anyways, this is against the rules... I remember Soy un tsunami was eliminated in Spain because the lyrics talked about Carrefour, so it's the same case ;)
I hope they keep the song just changing Facebook for something else though!

"Do you want to be more than just a friend?
Do you want to be cybersexican?
If you wanna come to my house
Then just click on the mouse"

The lyrics are really sexual ^

In less than 5 minutes or so, after the song being announced by SMRTV, the Eurovision official website posted tne news about San Marino's entry. They knew about it; they were just waiting for the announcement. If this gets disqualifed is because of "injustice" claims, concerning the rules (equal rules for everybody, blah blah). I believe EBU isn't ready to handle the pressure if it happens. But I'm sure they knew about the Facebook uh oh oh thing LOL.

Now that makes sense :) I was starting feeling bad for Latvian Mad Shows Boys for a sec, when they said jury didn't choose them because the song could be potentially disputed by EBU in the end, and now they approve THIS?
They better not!
