I want Sweden to withdraw, and others to follow.

Sweden might be a small country, but in terms of viewership and contribution to Eurovision we are one of the major ones. We have more viewers than much bigger countries have.

I think if broadcasters threaten to simply boycott this then EBU might "get the memo".
Sweden and denmark are not in nato too, and very near to Russia.

The reason why ORF is hesitant to say anything is as follows. With Austria in semi-final 1, they want to avoid being accused of wanting to get rid of a competitor before the final. It is up to the Big Five to make a decision. Until then, there will be no official statement.

When are people going to understand some broadcasters do not care about it. If they did they would be threatening to boycott the event.

If SOME broadcasters care about it, the EBU will listen to them.

I know that "in theory, everyone should be equal" but in Eurovision, that´s not the case - it just takes the Big 5 or the Nordic countries to demand it... or do you think that Eurovision will be taking place without them?

Also, Poland, Sweden and the Czech Republic demanded the football matches to not be held in Russia anymore - I can totally see Poland and the Czech Republic to ask the EBU to not let Russia participat at this stage. The Baltics will join them, for sure.

It might not be on top of their lists for now but - depending on how this war will evolve - I can totally see more broadcaster join Denmark and Sweden.

Again, even IF the EBU wants to stay neutral on war/conflicts...

They clearly have rules that the broadcasters need to report independently, etc. - The Russian authorities have introduced a law in which Russian media - which also affect the Russian channels which are member of the EBU - can only broadcaster Russian news/narrative/propaganda on this war and therefore, the Russian broadcaster CAN BE banned like the Belarusian one.

In the meantime, information about the allegedly upcoming inspection of the Ministry of Internal Affairs in relation to Sergey Lazarev is being forced in several telegram channels because of his position on Ukraine.

"The Ministry of Internal Affairs and the guardianship authorities are beginning to check Lazarev as an open homosexual regarding the proper care and upbringing of the child."

I guess the statement's gonna cost him something, but I never thought I'll see the investigation suddenly more important because of him being (probably) gay.

In Norwegian: NRK saying that they don,t want Russia to take part. But no word about withdrew if Russia take part. Still i would not be shoocked if Norway withdraw together with other nordic country. NRK think EBU should take the council and kick Russia out and have full trust that EBU will take the right decision. Also Sweden and Denmark think the same

and here in English:

The Head of Broadcasting at NRK, Gjermund Eriksen said in a statement that:

NRK has given clear advice to the EBU that Russia can not participate in this year’s Eurovision Song Contest as a result of the invasion of Ukraine. At the same time, this is a member organisation that needs some time to anchor a decision. We have full confidence that the EBU will reach the right decision.

It doesn´t come as a surprise. He condemned the war but didn´t condemn Russia and thus, the Russian authorities can´t do anything about that (officially) since it´s still "a democratic country". They have "anti-gay propaganda" laws, though.

The Dutch broadcaster (AVROTOS) made a clear statement:

274747500_10226983684203289_5165854462586620398_n.jpg

Translation:

"Personally and as president of AVROTROS I don't want to be silent anymore. This is the time that Europe has to unite and show where it stands for. Russia's military actions are not only about politics: it is gross violation of universal values as sovereignty and human rights. I ask other countries to speak up as well and urge EBU to suspend Russia of EBU-membership, and as a result being excluded from participating at the Eurovision Song Contest in Turin."

The Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra will complete their concert series in New York, which starts tomorrow, without star conductor Valery Gergiev. Gergiev is close to Russian President Vladimir Putin. The Philharmonic and Carnegie Hall have agreed on this.
