Why shouldn't they? It's the perfect opportunity to present itself and to polish up its image...
Sure. That's one of the reasons they should be banned. The organizers banned Belarus for sending a song that could be interpreted as government-friendly. But Russia should be allowed in the competition after invading another European nation?

Russia is more clever than Belarus. They would never breach the rules of the EBU to give them a reason to be banned. And what's outside of the EBU rules does not concern them...

The difference is that Belarus broke the rules of the contest itself

I'm 100% certain they will compete with a Dream Team entry. And I would assume it's Sergey

But we've already had a bop and a ballad from him in the latest 5 contests. What else are they gonna have him do, an instrumental?
And for Russia bringing out the same artist for 3 out of the latest 6 contests is almost shameful, what is this, a San Marino episode??

Actually, Serbia (then officially Yugoslavia) didn't technically break the rules either in the 90's, yet they got banned. I guess EBU had more backbone back then before Eurovision became this big business as now...

The Russian selection seems super corrupt and basically runned by Kirkorov, only when he is a bit tired they go with something else (like last year when he was busy holding Natalia hostage and buying juries to vote for "Moldova" (= Kirkorov)), otherwise it's him and/-or some of his proxies that seem to arrange the Russian entries (and Sergey seems to be in his entourage). It's tragic that such a huge country has... that... to show to Europe but oh well...

If Sergey, maybe a good entry for a change? xshrug

I don't just because I wouldn't want an artists without a strong support system to go through that. Sergey can handle it.
Russia goes for a different strategy. Whenever they expect negative reactions, they send someone you couldn't possibly attack, because that would look cruel. Two young sweet girls, a woman in a wheelchair in pursue of her life-dream. I wonder if they continue with that. What else could they think of? Someone from a minority? A mentally challenged person? Someone with a tragic life-story like a refugee, a victim of persecution? A person with a distorted face?

I know you just made it and all but there is something about petitions with barely any signatures that is just making me laugh 😭

There is a side of him we haven't seen yet in Eurovision 👀

Always playing the victim card... I can't at how blatant this broadcaster is tbh... it's parodic.
