y'all the juries will murder it
Maybe, if we have juries this year. Here is my thinking on the topic: if we end up with a ‘virtual’ or remote presentation, then I cannot see legitimacy for juries voting.
Juries are expected to assess live vocals with all singers being in the same place, using same stage. How can you oversee adherence to live singing with a potential crowd of back singers hidden somewhere behind the scenes? Local broadcasters will be responsible for the sound mix, which might entirely derail the lead singer vs. backing vocals mixing. Then we would have to vote on presentation and appeal, which is the televote’s territory.
Also, with everything happening in Europe, it could be a symbolic gesture to put power back into people’s hands. We can’t control anymore where we travel, whom we see or don’t. So many decisions are made for us. Can we have at least a powerful say in Eurovision to feel that we, as people, matter and a power?
