In interview she said she would like to perform at ESC 2019. I don't believe in it, coz both channels prefer "safe choices". But it would be uber-amazing

Personally I hope Russia win next year for the sole reason that I'm doing Erasmus in Moscow in the first half of 2020.

How about Kristian Kostov together with his Voice-Coach Dima Bilan?

Re: RUSSIA 2019

Bilan, Kostov, Lazarev and Gagarina can all get lost imo. I just don't see the point of sending people who did the best they could in recent years. Russia is big enough for Rossiya 1 to choose someone new who would be able to fare as well or even go all the way.

What I wish is that we could get out of the Kirkorov/Gutkin downward spiral. I think it's time to trust other composers or complete artists who write their own songs, just because sending the same song every two years gets boring and seems like wasted opportunities to me. Russia could show a fresher facet of their musical abilities by changing their approach a little.

I think there is a huge lack of trustworthiness from C1 and R1, due to the fact that they don't want to get back to their 2005/2010/2011's awful results.

That's basically what it makes me think of: a fear of not qualifying at all, even though they decided to enter with Julia Samoylova this year. Let's wait and see.

Re: RUSSIA 2019

I know this is impossible, because Tatu girls don't like each other anymore and Julia lost her voice because of her disease , but...

xheart

I think that song in Russian like "220" with this kind of performance like on music video would be a favourite to win.

BTW, t.A.T.u. was the reason I started watching Eurovision.

Re: RUSSIA 2019

Russia really needs to step up their game in this, I can't understand that the biggest country in the contest can't come up with something at least decent. These half-arsed, uninspired clichéd dated ballads in broken English or schlager-Pop left-overs need to go like asap, I know Russia has so much more to offer. A Russian ethno-Pop ballad perhaps? A contemporary Russian Pop song (not some Kirkorov/Kontopoulos dated cliché?)... is it really so hard to come up with? We're not talking a country of the size of San Marino here...

Re: RUSSIA 2019

So, hoperfully Rossiya 1 realizes that they need bring the old Russia's NF that they organized prior 2013!

At least they are very serious channel and they hire the best chorographers and and they contact the most poulars singers in Russia to take part in ESC better than C1. :)

I have a insting that Olga Buzova it's in their list as well. ;)

Re: RUSSIA 2019

Well, maybe they learned a lesson after not qualifying finally and after the last two years of fiasco that you can't get away with just playing the pity card, you actually need a strong act and entry as well. If Russia stays, please re-think your tactics. Send something that is good, not something imported from abroad but instead a popular Russian pop entry or something more alternative and daring or something ethno showing of true Russian music culture. Something RUSSIAN for a change. You're so concerned with demonizing western countries, yet you run to our countries to import songwriters, producers and sounds for Eurovision  How about some authenticity? No more peace ballads, no more dated Schlager-Pop by that Greek dude.

The Problem comes that mostly of Russian music and artists already is ''Westernized'' but the real russian music still livs. They need first get out from Samoilova duties before think their new tactics (or already have planned) under Rossiya 1 direction.

Personally i think that they will keep beting in English songs, but i think that they need better organized their old NF'S like the last one in 2012 in order to find new potential talents, to discover new russian music as well.

If Kirkurov & co. will keep control Rossiya 1 by suggested artists as Lazarev, and compossers like Kontopulous, then next year Europe needs to send another message to them that they need REAL RUSSIAN MUSIC than Westernized acts.

Actually, Russian Pop is quite distinct, yes just like Pop everywhere it is "westernized" in a sense, but it is far better and stronger than the nonsense Russia often sent to Eurovision lately. The stuff sent to Eurovision is not actual Russian Pop, they are some ESC-factory type of entries that are often out of date and often clichéd.

Polina has some pretty good material, yet they sent a nonsense peace ballad wasting that. Sergey's entry was mid 00's ESC Schlager-Dance-Pop and worse than his Russian language material. I think they need to stop hiring the Greek guy and Kirkorov and go with the contemporary producers in Russia that are really producing local hits, either that or choose something completely authentic Russian with folk elements etc, I think both could work.
