I still don't get what happened that almost everybody is obsessed with :ru: this year. Maybe right year and right representer? Tbh this song sound like it's being composed for like couple of nights. Though I survived Molitva, Bilan, Ell & NIkki, Loreen, Emmelie de Forest as winners (i even like some of them atm), so I can live with Sergey winning.

The only good thing if Russia wins is that it will be held there and finally some eurofans who bitch about the country will have the chance to visit there and get their arses served by big Russian tools to shut their mouths up before booing.

Did anybody see the Ukrainian journalist who tried to provoke Sergey in the press-conference? Classless. At least Sergey answered really nicely to his stupidity.

Yes. The way the question was asked was really bad. It didn't look like a question to me but like a read so Sergey had to shut him down with the words "I understand your question, let me answer"

I adored how Sergey answered, he was very respectful and clear about it. It's annoying that every single year these people come with the same question... I wonder if they have ever visited Russia once in their lives. After all, it's not on Sergey's hands to change the culture and mentality of a whole nation.
I did what Sergey suggested, I googled gay guide in St. Petersbourg before visiting and gosh I had fun there xpolicexparty

Yeah, I loved that part of his answer. He basically said "just google about gay bars in Russia and educate yourself before stereotyping on countries"

Finally watched it after work.
Not sure what 2nd semi has to offer, but all I can say...

This is your winner, Ladies and Gentlemen.

And i will be the first to admit, that it's not my personal favorite, and on the scale of -10 to 10 of the possibility of me rooting and being gaga over Russian entry i comfortably fall somewhere around -2. But I can't see how this doesn't win. Production is amazing, Sergey is on point, behaving very professionally, with class, charm and openness. I think he'll be able to reach out across the opening between first place and negativity based on the country he is representing.
I truly believe that everyone else will be competing for the 2nd place.
And you know what? I won't terribly mind this winner...

Can't get rid of the thought that I somehow KNEW he would draw second half.
And I am sure that they give him the most promising, most desirable starting position.

I thought he looked nervous and awkward - the whole thing was a little robotic. It deserved to qualify, but I'm not so sure it's as guaranteed a victory as some think... This year is still wide open in my opinion.

Draw doesn't matter that much. Mans performed last year on 10th position and won the whole contest.

Definitely the best of the first semi in my eyes! Sergey really impressed. That said, I didn't entirely get that winner's feeling from it; it felt a bit robotic and over-rehearsed, powerful as it was. Still, all the best to Sergey, and well done to him on tactfully answering the silly political questions thrown at him during the qualifier's interview. I might not want him to win the whole year, but I have to respect his talent and personality after seeing everything he's done.

I watched performance once more and must say i don't really like camera works in the first half of video. It seems their team won't improve that. For me, again, no winner vibes (but it will win nevertheless). One more thing: most people say "performance is saving the song" - in this case i would say "song is saving performance". For me personally it was more pleasure listening than watching.

Oh, and how nice of russians to insult ukrainians in comments (though i didn't see any ukrainian comment there). They should do something with victim complex. Dislikes are not only given by 'stupid ukrainian asses', there are many people with own opinion about the entry.

Yes, the show was cool with lots of things going on (though quite much was "stolen" from Måns' performance last year), and yes Sergey did a good job but please don't let visuals fool you. I like cool shows and I like countries' making efforts in their stage shows, but the song itself is still a cliché dated song that might have worked in early to mid-00's but 2016?? xshrug
