As for the performance, I'm a bit underwhelmed. He has great charisma in the close-ups, but the choreography is not impressive at all. Of course this is also due to the fact, that the videos are so much more captive, so it's difficult to keep up to that.
Anyway, Russia will bring a staging that will compensate this by far.... Still one of the hot favorites this year, if not THE favorite....

Russia will take it all, I can't see anyone who could come even close to them right now.

Is one of the contestants dancing with a military uniform???

Yes, but it must have to do with the story of the choreography. For this kind of tv shows they dress according to the stories. They can also dress as pirates. It's not weird!

The song is OK, the video is cool but his performances are fake and plastic. He dances like a robot, even he walks like a cyborg, there is no place for being spontaneous, everything is programmed from the beginning till the end. I don't like this kind of staging, but it was totally what I expected for because I saw his previous shows and, let's say, I am not a fan.

So it deserves to be in top 10, maybe top 5, but I hope it will not win, because we don't need a cheap version of Mans Zelmerlow. Russia had a lot of better performances in the past including Polina Gagarina, Babushki, Seberbo and even t.A.T.u., I really appreciate that they send every year very strong entries, but Sergey Lazarev as a winner is a joke for me (but this is possible, because this year is kind of weak).

I agree to your comment but the only thing Sergey and Mans have in common is they being handsome men.

Am I the only one who thinks that he has a ferret-face? Admit it, you guys are just hypnotized by his abs
Seriously though, I guess we all know that he totally has a shot at winning the whole thing but that isn't really because the song is all that great. I guess, I could actually kinda live with Russia winning if the song was at least decent but this is just nothing (btw I have no clue where those Mans-comparisons come from) - It would probably be the weakest winner of all time (at least for me).
I'm gonna say it again and again.... if this song would be competing for Georgia or Moldova instead it would even struggle to qualify for the final ... that's what bothers me. There are at least 12 songs this year that would make a better winner imho.

Sergey is like the male butterface (buthisface).
Voting should not be about how "hot" a singer is. I kinda felt that Mans won over Polina for that reason, he had a great song, but I thought Polina's one was a bit better.

In which eurovision parallel universe?

Of course the visual impression counts! Sometimes more, sometimes less, sometimes it's about beauty, sometimes it's about being unconventional. But sex appeal has always been an important factor in the contest since at least the 90ies. And - especially for our "ban all male artists"-activist - it even has played a bigger role for female singers than for males and was also more used by them.

How about our universe? It's the Eurovision SONG Contest not the Eurovision Modelling Contest or Eurovision Fashion Contest.
I will never rank a song higher because how the singer dresses or looks. Actually, it wouldn't be a bad idea to let the artists perform behind a curtain, a la The Voice.

Amen to all of this. Doing a radio contest would be ideal

Well, you are obviously in the wrong competition. It has NEVER EVER been a pure song contest. Already in its second year, you had the "scandal" of the long kiss between Birthe Wilke and Gustav Winckler, that drew attention to their song (and of course was deliberately used for that purpose).
And that's why we love it. Because it is entertaining on so many levels. A song is much more that just the lyrics and the music. It's the personality of the singer or group, it's their charisma, the staging, the costumes, the choreography, everything.

Guys, if anything, they've mentioned in the beginning, that it is NOT the perfomance we will see in Stockholm :)

As I said earlier, I think if this wins it would be a really big setback for the Eurovision Song Contest. This is a good winner for 2006 standards but it's a terrible winner for 2016 standards. The juries will hopefully do their job and sink this. And I can't see it winning the televote either. Thankfully the taste of the European public has changed in the last few years.

Sergey singing live his ESC song live at ''Dancing with Starts''.

So what I took from that :

1. Great vocalist
2. Dodgy dance moves
3. Sergey is insanely camp

Are we sure about this, though? Shitty songs like "Golden boy" still reach the Top 10.

Hmm dunno about all that tbh - I agree that the staging and the overall look of the performance are extremely important (but without a decent song it's all in vain anyway) for success but I don't think that people vote for a song because the artist is hot or wears some fancy dress.... at least I hope so. I mean, that's surely something ~14 year old girls would do ...
