I totally agree and i will be the first in a line to dance and shout with joy if Russia sends something ethnic in russian, but it doesn't depend on what we want, unfortunately. Isn't it funny that the most ethnic entry we had didn't have a single word in russian

I'm a little bit worried about how slow things are this year, i'm not even sure there's going to be a NF (not that i like russian NFs but it's still fun).

Hmm which song do you refer to? The grannies? Because 2009 was also ethno-inspired (though partly in Ukrainian... but still more genuine than sending a wailing Americanized Disney ballad like in 2013 )...

I still remember this masterpiece from 2010 NF!

Pity I can't find a video of performance from the NF cause as I remember it was AMAZING one!

Its weird how a broadcaster is capable of putting a decent national final together but are hopeless at internal selections.

I'd count "Mamo" as ethnic too, I think those are the two most genuine entries Russia sent... but also t.A.T.u. and some of the 90's entries were genuinely "Russian" (not ethnic though... but in terms of musical style and compositions)... oh and 2010 was kinda genuine aswell, not sure how "Russian" it can be seen but as far as a song goes it was atleast original.

2011 intro was ethno-inspired too... but it lasted for just 10 sec

Actually Russia has two broadcasters. One is Channel One and the other is RTR. Channel One usually does internal selections while RTR usually does national finals. This year it's RTR's turn.

These were the best 10 seconds ever, i'd prefer him singing that over and over again!
Every russian entry with a slight touch of ethnic had at least one russian word to it so "the most ethnic entry with not a single russian word" was definitely about the grannies
