First of all, Alex Sparrow is supposed to be his 'stage name' so I dont know why he's going with his real name... Sparrow is more catchy!

As for the song, the bit at the start is horrible and they got rid of the 'woah, oh, oh' bit at the end and that's my favourite bit .

I think this is way better, I just wish they'd ditch the rest of the song and make a whole new song in the style of the new intro instead

Okay so here are some updates.

He will apparently NOT go by the name "Sparrow" in Eurovision (thank God!) and also he will use his full Russian first name aswell! This is official on both EBU's main Eurovision page aswell as on the CD/Itunes, so some mod can change his name in this thread's title to "Alexej Vorobjov" (which is the official spelling used by EBU now).

Also the song has a new version on the official CD which starts off almost as some sort of traditional Russian song (in Russian!) (very random because then it kicks in and starts as the normal song).

Anyways here is the ESC version of the entry (never mind he is named Alex Sparrow in this video, from now on he will go officially by his Russian name according to the official sources):

Yeah that was the problem it was "fun" but didn't sound a bit serious. I'm glad he's sticking to his own name, afterall that's his name not some silly English stuff

As for the new version I like the intro, although it does sound kinda random, I do agree with MyHeartIsYours about the ending though.

No I LOVED the old version but this new one I only LIKE... I'll still have him as my second fave though!

Well, the problem with his supposed stage name is that it was just pure silly and I think that's why they changed it. Anyways stage names are silly overall, I like artists just embracing their own names.

As for the new intro, well I wasn't into the song before and that's the only interesting part to me, but yeah it is indeed kinda randomly added to the song I do admit.

And yep, I agree about the ending.

He is still hot though, but with or without the intro it won't make it to my top.10, if they changed the whole song to something more in the style of the new intro it might have even entered my top.3, but unfortunately they can't and won't do that because it would be a whole other song.

Bah, the ESC version is alot worse than the original one!
They removed the outro and added an intro that clashes in a bad way against the rest of the song.
Russia is now out of my top 10 and won't be back in it unless they decide to go back to the old version.

A part of me wishes that they could just delete the whole old song and go for a totally new one built upon the new intro, now THAT would be a good song.

Now i'm just confused, on one hand the new intro is the only interesting part of this song, on the other hand it doesn't fit just as you all say. I don't know what to think. I kinda like the new version though because atleast we get 30 sec of something actual GOOD for a change

My idea exactly!

It's like they threw in some tease for us "haha here you get a little piece of good music and in Russian, but you have to live with the rest still". Maybe next year we get something cool from Russia again.

I'm actually one of those that was happy with Russia going all local and alternative on us 2009-2010 after their win, so I was a little let-down this year.

A traditional Russian sound would never fit with a contemporary, pop song like this and I personally have a dislike for traditional sounds . As I said, it will still be my runner-up but I am sad that they've changed something that didnt need changing =/.
