THE GOOD:

-This song is really good, and his vocals fit well with what the song is going for.
-The instrumentals are properly bombastic.

THE BAD:

-It won't be by much, but the audience will be limited.

THE VERDICT:

This song would fit in really well with any Final Fantasy video game soundtrack, but sounds pop enough to where its potential audience won't take that much of a hit. Overall, a really good song here. 10 points

I was outside so I didn´t follow what was happening.
Then I came home and anxiously went online to check the final results.

A feeling of relief overtook me as I realized that its not going to be Mihai after all. *phew*

The winner is nothing special for me. I wasn´t a fan of Ovidiu´s song from last year, nor am I a fan of this one. Well, at least its not generic like Mihai´s song.
I have to applaud his live performance tho, especially the vocal part.

My personal top 3 ranking from this selection (only judging by studio versions) would be:

1. Florena
2. Vanotek feat. The Code & Georgian
3. Andra Olteanu (cheap, but at least it has a nice hook, plus I like the folk parts)


EDIT: Still, none of these acts can compare to Voltaj´s song from last year (my personal opinion at least).

It will be E P I C and will remain a moment of references in fans talks. I wouln't change absolutelly nothing. With a good camera work, it will give to us a big surprise. He sing like a winner and that's matter a lot. He reminds me Luminița from 2005.

This song is a textbook example of what artist selection can do for a song. In studio, I found this cheesy but austere and not at all intriguing. His voice was pretty good from a technical standpoint, but that's not enough to grab me unless it's really shown off well, which it wasn't. But for the love of Christ this man has stage presence. I'm not even talking about the staging or his costuming (though both of those are epic yes); I'm talking about the way he comports himself through gesture, posture, and expression, as well as the nuances in his voice that get lost from live to studio and found again live. This is probably the worst song from a composition perspective that I've ever given a ranking as high as 8, but thanks to him (and, yes, the train wreck staging), I'm flirting more with 10 than with 7.

I feel a bit alone but I was very pleased with the Romanian choice.
I find the song quite good with a memorable chorus. The singer and chorists know how to use the stage.
I love listening to metal and this song reminds me a lot bands like Edguy.

And the swordman is a candy for the eye, a bit like Lithuania 2014 and Spain 2015.
I want a country with 100 % qualification success to fail at the semis but Romania is not this one for me.

It's very bombastic and therefore feels like a perfect match for Eurovision. I enjoy having such a song in the contest although this style of music is unlikely to be encountered outside the contest.
I give it 10 points.

My personal problem with this entry is that it sounds quite dated. Like, as I´m listening to it, Eurovision years from 2000 - 2006 instantly pop to my mind.
I can get behind the symphonic rock genre because I find it interesting, but that doesn´t hide the core song that sounds really dated, especially the chorus.

Just as some other user on the Wiwibloggs comment thread already mentioned, "there is a big gap between retro and dated".
I feel that this and are this year in the same category. Stuck in past Eurovision years, but will qualify thanks to the great vocal performance and show.

I don't like this song and I'm not a fan of Ovidiu Anton. I don't like metal and I don't like that devil-horns sign they do so often on stage. I don't like the "dark atmosphere" in this kind of songs. Zero points from me.

We are at war! Everywhere I look I see a war manifesto. A war in which we are the last. Counts only the interests of all kinds. All the money goes. Then where are the people? We're not gonna go anywhere. It depends on us if we stay here happy or coerced. I want to be happy here. In other countries it goes into the street when people are unhappy. Not in a violent way. We do not need this, we need to be verbal and fair. "

I can't believe people actually voted for this, it is so different from what the Romanian public listens to. I'm happy for him, he deserved this, even though I wish I'd seen what Vanotek would have done in the grand show.

Paradisio was a dated, nerdy, pretentious piece of "music" sung by an unpleasant guy. It would have done a lot of damage to the image of Eurovision.
Glad to see that Romanians are clever people.
