Nobody voted, right? Because these results are really strange.
Well, if Josh did not win with 12+12...
I am getting afraid of Napa's boredness.

Absolutely fraudulent what happened here. I'm willing to bet it was the moppy jury who sank Peculiar all in favour of their estabilished artists like Marco or a nepo kid like Campelo. This is not looking good...

I didn't watch the 1st semi. I checked performances and I can say that I rank the final for now like this:

1. JOSH 10/10
2. Bluay 10/10
3. Margarida Campelo 7/10 - vocals are fantastic xbow- I can say the best of the evening, PERFECTION, lifted it from 4 to 7 after the live interpretation and can go higher on me! What an amazing harmony with backings..such a deserved qualifier..
4. Jessica Pina 6/10
5. Marco Rodrigues 6/10
6. Peculiar 4/10

JOSH is awesome as we all know it will be, but, maybe due to this staging, not sure yet, it didn't made me react like I expected to react, based on my reactions after I listened to it earlier...
Bluay was EXTRAORDINARY! xcry xlove xheart Are these backings live? If yes, KUDOS to them, they are marvelous!! It almost made me put Bluay in front of JOASH!
Capital de Bulgaria and Du Nothin not in the final???? GRRRR!

I love Josh's performance. It can be better yes ( Loreen's nails arent necessary, it feels like copying her, it needs a more interesting backdrop, better lighting ), but this can totally get a great result in May.

For me, the gimmick killed the emotion and soul of the song. I understand and appreciate that they were trying to somehow elevate it. But if it doesn't work (and it didn't), just abandon it.

They have 2 weeks to totally rethink the performance which managed to ruin a beautiful, haunting song. It's all wrong, the pole, being stuck for 3 minutes in the air feels like some unnecessary punishment, the hair, the gel, the suit, his expression...
Nothing was genuine, everything was contrived, all the emotion was lost.
Somebody should learn a lesson on how NOT to stage a song.
A real trainwreck. Such a disappointment....
I didn't even care to cast a vote, the dismay was too intense.

Well, there are always surprises in the semis.
1) The jury is smaller, and it is often made up of former contestants of the festival. The semi-final jury is always one that tries to vote based on the quality of the songs themselves (never thinking in terms of going to Eurovision, because it's just the semi-final).
2) Fewer people vote in the semis. Personally i sent two votes only (a low amount).

I'm not surprised that Adamastor didn't qualify in the first round. That must have been due to a low jury score because Peculiar wasn’t vocally perfect and had some parts with autotune (or something similar), which doesn't help.

My qualifiers for the night would be, in order: Josh, Peculiar, Capital da Bulgária, Xico, and Marco.

But well, can we talk about Josh?
And can we calm down a little?
Let’s forget what happened in the last few days... odds rising, high expectations, ego, and hope building up… and now it's a disaster? He shouldn't even go to the final? (I read this on Tugavision…).

It was the most complex, demanding, and artistic performance that has ever been on the Festival da Canção stage. Was it perfect? No, of course not! But we’re in the semi-final, guys, on a stage with limited resources, a small stage with no elevation at all. What did you expect? A flawless performance, ready to go straight to Eurovision? Only unrealistic people would think that.

This has all the potential—it has the concept, it just needs to be refined, improved, and placed on a stage like Eurovision’s, with professional camera angles (and this year, I do have some criticism for RTP on that). Josh took a risk; he possibly doesn’t feel fully comfortable with what he’s doing yet. I would definitely change the nails (but if it’s part of his personality, that’s fine, he shouldn’t change just because we want him to). Vocally, he was very good, and unfortunately, the sound that came through on TV wasn’t great (at least that’s what I felt, and my friends reported the same).

The song is the same, and the potential is there—it’s a process, but it’s still the best proposal. I’m not saying he should win; let’s lower our expectations, which is the most important thing. It’s the song with the most potential to get a good result at Eurovision!

Adamastor will most likely be killed by the jury.
Marco Rodrigues will score high with both the jury and televote.

Henka might struggle next week with this jury, but everything depends on her vocals and how it all comes across.

Fernando Daniel and Napa could benefit a lot from the fandom's apparent loss of love for Josh.

I feel sad that we don’t have the conditions for artists to shine. I’m sure that Josh and Henka would be incredible on stages like Sweden’s, Finland’s, or even our neighbors in Spain, etc.

If Josh doesn’t win, it will be because of the televote.

We’ll see, but it's getting interesting.

Me during the 5 finalist announcement:

giphy.gif

What was that?
I'm not pointing fingers, but some people pooped on there being a 6th finalist and oh boy... Thank Gaja, essa diva, serving Kant, for there being a 6th, only televote, option because Peculiar song may not be the best, it may even feel tiring if you're not in the mood, but he had the most eurovision ready staging concept in the semifinal, at least the final will be less boring.

I'm dreading what will hapen in semi 2...

Maybe he can improve the lights and camera work, also add some fog but it's unlikely that they can totally rethink the performance. The main issue with his performance is the fact that the prop and levitationg trick distracts from him and his expressions, emotions, interpretation. This is among the worst scenarios you could have when it comes to stage a ballad like this. 80% of the camera work is centered about the levitation thing. They've centered the performance mostly around this.

Him and his team might improve it partially (if they have the right to do a lot of changes) but what would be needed is a completely different performance without the prop to make the camera work the most efficient possible. He could still improve with the levitation trick but then there would be no point keeping it.

Also not only the voting for the final starts on Monday/Tuesday (so people will vote based on this unpolished performance) but i've heard (need to be confirmed) that every delegation needs to send the main staging details to the EBU on the 10th of march so they might have prepared some stuff for Basel too already and based on this actual concept already. Josh and his team has invested a lot of time on this concept so it might be difficult for them to ditch all the work they did before.

All three of my faves are in the second semi so didn't care for yesterday's show, but damn, Josh should win the semi 1 on the basis of floating alone. This looked amazing! xshock:lol:

Tumblr, mostly.
Opposite world Portugal strikes again.

Sure as well hope this goes to Fernando now and not to the mediocre twink and the Merely Adequate band.

Wait, Josh is getting hate? Or what is going on? Why?

As for the staging, there certainly is room for improvement and I don't like the pole concept but all in all it's still the best option for :pt:. The song is miles ahead of any other song in this year's FDC.

I dont see why Fernando should be a contender. His song is not anywhere near Josh's song.
