This is my first pot here and it's been fun reading all the strong opinions about the 2 main favourites. Both songs have their strong and weak points. I prefer "Tristeza" and "Cotovia", because of their elegant melodies and orchestrations, but I can see why many others may prefer "Medo". The running order indicates that all 3 songs will get strong support from one or both sets of votes.

Bem vindo! always good to see more Portuguese people here

Fernando's life these days was so busy. His son was born today. But he keeps asking people to vote on Twitter and Instagram :ROFLMAO:

I knew that once Fernando Daniel performed, people would go wild. It will get worse Saturday, if he wins. It seems like many are criticizing him and his song even more, simply because he knocked Josh out of the park after his perfomance.

As for Josh, those who want him to win are basing their opinions on expectations about his performance in Basel, which may or may not come to fruition. That’s fine, I believe they can make the performance better for may, but if Fernando wins instead it will be because he did a better job in the national selection. And that's just the way it is.

My favorite is Cotovia, and I would choose her without hesitation, even if she seems less competitive. That said, I have to admit Fernando has a solid pop song. It might be a little generic (there's nothing wrong with that, even if usually Portugal sends other kind of stuff), but it’s still a great, radio-friendly track with potential. Can we please stop saying otherwise?
I might be persuaded to agree to saying it's a radio friendly song, on the average side. Nobody will ever make me say it's great or that it has potential. Potential for what?, I'd like to know? The nerve. The idea!
Nothing to do with Josh or any of the other contestants anyway 🤷

Not everybody has to like the songs that go into Eurovision. Myself, I have strongly disliked Maro and still do. As to Iolanda I was always kind of indifferent, although in the end I could see they did a good job out if it. Nothing to get too excited about though.

Hey! So haven't posted here for a loooong loooong time ago.
I think this FdC was ok. We keep getting quality but I still miss diversity from what is being selected. I know RTP is doing an effort with inviting Peculiar and selecting Henka but I'm still lacking the diversity that portuguese music has.

Moving on from that I think that Josh was like a cold shower. We all thought he was going to give us everything and he gave us a guy in a pole. Is the song there? Yes. But the performance isn't giving much and I do agree with what some people are saying that we can't rely with what we wish the performance was, because what we imagined isn't coming across on screen. I have no idea how is it going to be in May (if it wins) because the only way I can enjoy this is with a completely different approach.

Same for Henka. I mean I am 100% team Henka BUT the live performance... meh. I was hopping for more and I actually believe a band would have been better. But I'm very happy she made the final, wish her all the best and I REAAAALLY want RTP to invite her to a future FdC because she really has a voice and she deserves another chance. Same with Peculiar.

After seeing all of the performances I'm torn between Fernando (and I reaaaally disliked the studio version, but let´s be honest, the performance kinda works) and Diana . "Cotovia" didn't said much on studio but she really can sing and it was lovely to see her perform. I wouldn't be mad to see her at the eurovision stage.

Now... who is going to win? I'm almost sure it's Fernando and the running order kinda says that. It's:

9 - Fernando
10 - Emmy Curl
11 - Josh
12 - Diana Vilarinho

Emmy basically doesn't stand a chance performing between Fernando and Josh (I think we can all agree on that). RTP know Josh can work with televote and jury, but Diana performs "Cotovia" reaaally good, so maybe this is the way RTP is making the jury go more for Diana who won't have much public support (unfortunately IMO). Fernando is going to do good with both jury and public regardless of where he performs. So maybe this is the way of pushing Fernando even more.

But this nothing more than a conspiracy theory xlmao

Fernando's staging concept actually reminds me of this FKA Twigs performance. They can certainly make it more impactful with the right direction though.

I wouldn't be mad if he actually managed to pull something similar like that.

There is another plus for Fernando.
RTP has been seeking a big star for some years already. Some other unknown artists were better in previous years, but this should be the right time. And like... he is our biggest male pop singer, loved by RTP big fishes and music machine here.

And if he wins and gets a decent result at ESC that would attract more known singers. Because let's face it, they are the ones bringing audience to FdC.

I said what it was about in the post you quoted. Did you read it to the end?
If you do not care about reading a full post before quoting it I have nothing else to say...
???

Sorry, but I'm genuinely confused what made you think I did not read your post fully? I read it. I still do not find the story you explained obvious in the staging. And that's all I said.

Gonçalo Madail (RTP's main director for FdC) announced a much higher registration of televotes on the second semifinal. While the panel was discussing about the favorites to win, he suggested about 3 or 4 possible winners and the correlation between online support vs real voting that keeps bringing surprises. Maybe Josh did not perform well along the televote? Or Fernando Daniel? Napa?
He knows the results already.

Josh has the right song, Fernando Daniel the right staging. Josh has higher potential to win Eurovision but didn't delivered the right performance right at the time needed while Fernando Daniel performance seems more warm and genuine. This could have an impact when it comes to the voting.

The seeds are already there anyway, they just need to make a bigger contrast between the intimate room and the stage/band segment for a bigger impact moment.
Get a good set designer ( call me whenever you want, Portugal ;)) to ritch up the room a bit, lose the media and fancy lighting and media for the end, tweak the camera angles a bit and there you have it.

Well from what I see he is trying to remove myths. "Oh running order doesn't matter, we have to keep people entertained but it's also for logistic reasons" ok let's try to believe in that. He is also saying that in the final "the jury is different and bigger so it's more unpredictable" .

Basically he is doing his job and it's like: "Hey it's really competitive you have to watch the final."

He did mention that one thing is online movement and other thing is who is voting and semi-final 2 had way more votes. Well since Fernando and Napa are there it's understandable. Maybe, the only thing I can take from it is that Josh wasn't as strong with the public. He might have taken the 12 on semi 1 (I'm almost 100% sure) but considering overall votes of both semis, he had a much lower result. Maybe it's between Fernando and Napa (but Napa won't have much jury support, hence my theory that Diana performing "Cotovia" last and right after Josh will make the jury go for Diana, lowering Josh's possibilities with the jury, because from what I see there's no way in the world, "Cotovia" is not on the jury TOP 3 .

Fernando high with televote and jury.
Josh high with televote, slightly low with jury.
Napa will be high with televote, lower with jury.

But like I said, these are all conspiracy theories (but we do love them) :)

Napa will be high with the jury too, probably.

Less votes on semi 1 can also, partially, have to do with less people watching the show on that day.
