I really love Iolanda and Grito. So powerful and one of the few songs so far in this national selection season giving me goosebumps.

Have they released odds yet? How likely is the song to win?
The portuguese nf doesn't have betting odds, but at this point I think it will be either Iolanda or João Borsh, it will depend a lot on how they will stage the songs.

Edit: I was wrong, unlike previous years this year there are betting odds for Festival da Canção. The top 5 is:

1. Filipa - 25%
2. Iolanda - 25%
3. Bispo - 15%
4. João Borsh - 9%
5. Mela - 7%

Everyone else is at 2% or lower.
I disagree that Filipa has a chance to win, her song is good and will stand out, but with her living in South Africa we can expect the staging to be her alone on stage(maybe something like Armenia in 2019?), which is a pitty because the song is begging for dancers on stage and for her.
Bispo also is too high in my mind, he is the biggest name in this lineup, but I belive he will end up flopping in the televote like Ivandro and Bárbara Tinoco did last year, also 2 big names of the portuguese music scene.

I like Iolanda, Joao and Mela. If any of them wins, it will struggle to qualify but personally I like the mood of those songs.
The rapper is very flat and monotone. Yes he has something to tell to us but this storytelling after 30 sec becomes annoying for someone that doesn't understand Portuguese.
This year the Portuguese ESC prospective is a little bit uncertain.
Last year Mimicat was bombastic

After a couple of listens, I must say Iolanda's song is stunning and could really stand out in the contest. She must win the whole thing!

Iolanda continues to be my absolute winner.

But "Aceitar" is stuck in my head, easily climbing to 2nd place xheat

After the draw I think it's safe to say that Portugal won't be qualifying this year, the songs on the nf aren't that strong, even the portuguese public isn't engaging with them as they did last year, and although Luxembourg has a big portuguese diaspora it is the only one with one voting on semi 1

Well, there is a chance that only Portugal will send a ballad between those countries. There will be a plus.
But I am not super confident. Semifinal 2 would be way better.

It's a difficult draw on paper, for sure.

But it really depends on the performance. "Love Is On My Side" wasn't a favourite at all but it finished Top 7 in televoting in :is: :fi: :uk: :pl: :md: :rs: and all of them will be voting in semi 1, too and now add the "already given (?)" high points from :lu:

In 2023, a country only needed 37 points to qualify.

Let's not forget the same happened to Maro in 2022 and qualified in the 4th position. Anything can happen at this point still!

The thing is... we do not have anything like "Saudade, Saudade". And there are no juries...

I do feel kind of concerned for Portugal and Grito if that song gets sent....but even if it's a different song I'm not sure if Portugal has any option that would grab attention enough.

I keep thinking about last year where Estonia had an amazing ballad in Bridges but still only came 10th place in the televote. Depending on how many countries are grabbing attention in the first semi I feel like something understated like Grito could struggle.

If Grito represents Portugal I'll definitely be sending some votes to Portugal though!

Juries placed "Telemoveis" last.
and they also have prevented :ch: from qualifying 3 times.
Of course, :es: and maybe :fr: :ch: and :it: would have been nice but you received 111 pts in televoting in 2021 and 87 pts in 2022 (and received more pts from :am: :lt: televoting than :it:, for example) and even last year, :pt: qualified comfortably - there was a 37 pts gap to :rs: (#10) which means that :pt: would have even qualified even without the 24 pts from :ch: or :fr:

Anything is possible if you ask me ;)

Some people have compared "Grito" to "Senhora do Mar", so maybe that's the only way that it could qualify, if the general public sees it as a balkan ballad but in portuguese, afther all we will have Serbia, Croatia and Slovenia voting on semi 1.

Unfortunately, it's stupid that they have abolished the jury in the semi-finals. I understand the reason, but isn't the televoting also completely 'biased' in some countries?

Unfortunately, this factor means that some songs might have difficulties in qualifying (so, looking at Portugal, we have a serious problem).

It's a terrible draw; we have 1/4 of our most potential voters (I wouldn't include Italy in this list at all). Now, Switzerland, France, and Luxembourg have an interested diaspora that votes for Portugal regardless of the music (some pathoitarianism here). Spain is more uncertain lately, I think due to the proximity, for a person from the border, it's easy to vote, we have some diaspora and neighbor voting, after all, it's a safe voter, but less clear.

And then it seems to me that we are in the stronger semi-final, but it's a bit unfair because we still haven't met half of the songs and there are countries that might send literally any type/genre of music.

With this, Iolanda still seems to me a possible qualifier, but just borderline and she would need to have a good staging and a good allocation position.

Overall, it seems that we have an entry with some potential but that can also be a complete disaster. João, if he does something 'out of the box', something surprising, he might catch a percentage of the most "alternative Eurovision" vote. After all, rock has achieved several very positive results in the televote, could Portuguese progressive rock, with good staging, be well received? Without seeing the performances, it's not possible to say much for now.

We have to have a very efficient presentation in May, with that, everything will be possible, despite an unfavorable draw (this is undeniable)

Yeah, I also feel like our chances to qualify this year are not that great now that we know the draw

After some time listening, I can say that my favourites of our selection are both Rita's songs and "Aceitar". And Nena also has a very nice song, like we usually get from her outside Festival da Canção

As for the favourites to win, I like "Grito", but I'm not the biggest fan of "Pelas Costuras" tbh
