Probably the least expected qualifier. I wanted Azerbaijan and Australia, but i thought Poland would also be more likely that this one. At least the vocals weren't as guttural as in the NF... or maybe they were, i didn't listen anyway. 0 points from me.

Best of the night for me, complete package. Staging classy yet modern, some intimate camera shots, vocals on point. Song isn't the most unique one I've heard or something, but still, it worked on the live stage.

:pt: almost always serves me in recent years. It might be my #1 now for the final.

well, the reaction on social media was unexpected in terms of proportion. A lot of comments and sharing about staging and how well she sang. There is even a post from a popular radio station with more than 15k likes.
People are pleased and way more engaged than last year. It is pretty surprising.

Seems that RTP made an "official" complaint last year about the running order spots...
Carla Bugalho, please... tell your friend Bjorky to give us a second part spot. It does not matter if is a 14th spot... still fine.

Holy cow, what an incredible performance. She just sounded and comported herself in a way that was so confident. I know Portugal's place in the final wasn't TOTALLY secure going into the night, but after that performance, I wouldn't be surprised if she did some real numbers in the voting. A brave, immaculately-delivered song and performance.

Good song, good staging, good performance, they did everything well. Love to see it in the final, this one made it on merit.

Tumblr, mostly.
that might explain it then x because no way this wasn't unexpected. it's a well-sung and well-staged song with a good slot and nearly no competition in the same "category"
Ana as she often is, is completely right.

Why was Portugal not deemed a qualifier before rehearsals? I always assumed they'd be in, just as much as I always assumed Australia to be out. (which: PWNT @joelcunt for repeatedly insulting iolanda on air, only for her to qualify and australia to nq. Karma Is Real :-) )

The song deserved to be in the final - it's a quality entry but semi final 1 was very competitive and I was a bit afraid of Portugal not making it.. when they got announced as a qualifier, I cheered for them - especially if a song like that qualifies thanks to the televoting (same applies to Slovenia! Who would have thought!), it perfectly proves that we can trust televoters a bit more... a fun entry sneaks into the entry now and then but overall, televoting also rewards amazing vocals and stunning performances (Estonia and Switzerland also qualified last year).

Anyway, Iolanda was absolutely nailing it - she looked stunning, sang beautifully and I loved her emotions/facial expressions. Everything was on point!

Good luck on Saturday!

I‘m pretty sure that :pt: will be a jury top 5 song. And I’m here for it.

I'm hoping for a top10. But I was only hoping for qualification, after weeks of people saying we were "borderline". Whatever comes now, as people say in Portugal, is profit.

I mean what else is there that juries can support a 100 % because of its quality. Basically only :it:. :ch: has very good vocals but maybe a too chaotic song and definitely a very off-putting/ distracting costume. :fr: also has rather good vocals but the song is very cliché, very flat actually. Will they get behind :ua: rap? So :pt: has the full package, amazing vocals, simple yet effective staging, captivating song with highs and lows.

Because there were quite a lot of iffy songs that relied on diaspora votes and the Portuguese situation there is not nearly as strong, with basically only Luxembourg giving them a good shot at a proper diaspora boost. It also had a bit of competition being a ballad and the song itself doesn't have as high a bar as others could potentially have. As rehearsals went underway it was clear though that Portugal would have a good chance to qualify, but the bookmakers make their books based on where people put their money and Portugal would never look like a very good bet to make even at 1/2 odds because the expected points yield would remain low and prone to lose to diaspora effects for other iffy countries like Poland and Serbia. While people like to bet, they don't necessarily like to gamble.

Tom Dice, Yohanna, Eva Mora (ex- spanish HOD), Blanca Paloma, and Conchita Wurst... all of them gave beautiful comments to Iolanda's performance.
So nice!

Well, somehow I am expecting a top 13 with the juries. Let's see about the RO, but I am pretty confident.
