It was hard for me to believe Portugal was out of the qualification places but now I feel we may not qualify.

Relax, it wasn't a sure qualifier even before rehearsals. We'll see, either it's not going to qualify, or it will and we will have a sweet revenge!
Curious if they will change anything at the 2nd rehearsal.

It's not like this 'press' vote is accurate in any way. In 2017 Norma John won day 1 press poll, while Salavador was 3rd and Blanche ended up with 0 points.

Last year in the press poll for the jury rehearsal Netta ended up with only 4 points. In the end she won the jury vote for semi 1 with quite a huge margin.

It showed nothing new compared to the NF performance, except the outfits. Conan sang and moved the bare minimum, João held on the OTT dance moves and deathdrop.

Still, ranking Belgium above Portugal is laughable. Georgia had the amazing backdrop and San Marino is... well...

Telemoveis as a song is still not my cup of tea. But the live performance of the song still is awesome! I actually preferred when Conan was dressed in black - but to me the green is a good number two! And I am sure the dancer will "drop dead" in the semi - and hopefully also in the final.
The reason why I like Portugal this year is not because it's weird - but because the whole act comes together and is really challenging to the senses: both the eyes and the ears! I wont be listening to the song after the ESC is over, but I really want this to qualify. Will it? I am thinking maybe not...

Surprised the reactions here are so negative, is it just because the rehearsal clips looked messy? That's far from unusual, it always comes together for the actual performance. Conan is a very visually conscious artist and i'm sure they have everything thought out perfectly!

I really hope he is just trying out different looks and he will have something better for the second rehearsal.

I think this entry is in trouble but then from the moment it was picked I believed it was beyond a risk, and that we were living in some weird kind of parallel universe where such a unique and bizarre piece of music was a fan favourite. I wanted to believe in its chances to qualify but I’ve found it difficult. More than anything I was just happy to have something I deemed so special at the contest. Whether Conan makes it or not, it’s a brave, one of a kind entry and something to be proud of. I hope I’m wrong about its chances but it’s better to hold realistic expectations with the song than be sorely disappointed in about a weeks time. I think this will be too difficult for the general public.

It's one of my favorites but I am concerned, I can't lie. While I did like the rehearsal, I can imagine that he will be completely misunderstood. The costumes are way off too, they need to be replaced.

Hello everybody Thought it's about time to join in.
I fell in love with Telemoveis at the first sight/listen. And s2g, no matter how many times I listen to it, it still feels fresh and beyond incredible.

Re-today's rehearsal... Overall, I liked it. Conan's vocals were so smooth and on point; Joao was amazing as well. On the other hand, there were two things I liked, let's say, a bit less: 1. black face mask and 2. the costumes.
But when I saw the actual snippet video of them performing, it hit me like a Hatari's whip - Green is the color of rejuvenation and rebirth and *lo and behold* Osiris is the Egyptian god of rebirth. Btw, he is often depicted with green skin. Mind=Blown! Also, the costumes' design/flow itself is very leafy-esque, twisting and twirling around 'the Rose' (which could be metaphorically replaced with Heart, Creation, Life, Love, etc), protecting it until it's time to bloom in its full beauty. Thus, the whole vibe has been *imo* heavily centered around new beginnings and rebirth, like an artistic/avantgarde transcendence from darkness (again, metaphorically, longing, grieving, the Underworld - hey to Osiris, we meet again) to the light (starting over, afterlife, resurrection). First two outfits were black and white; Green is in the middle of the spectrum. Mind=Blown, pt.2.
Still not too fond of the mask... Golden one has more of the visual impact.

Sooo, yeah, I have faith in our Future Boy, no matter what happens. And ofc, gonna vote like there's no tomorrow

The portuguese fandom is in total meltdown at the moment, people were expecting a different staging to the one in the national final and I to was disappointed.
In the instastories Conan joked that he was a sexy praying mantis and that would make sense with the first verses of the song, him calling/praying to heaven.
I actually do love the green suit but they need to improve the lightning, if he blends into the background people will not see the dance moves.
The image of Conan’s arm being a crossbow was stunning and the fingers coming together to form the arrow symbolized creation, him working to end his sorrow, his longing, but I was hoping that João, the dancer, was the only one using the fingernails, symbolically João would be the embodiment of the arrow, the personal growth that Conan goes through the song, and would make sense to see him going away at the end after Conan “shoots” the arrow.
I’ll try to be hopeful, but part of me is still sad about today.

Portugal was my 3rd place in the studio version, but unfortunately this staging looks like a NQ. It's not too late to turns things around.
Looking forward to the second rehearsal.

I understand very little of Portuguese (shame on me, it's such a beautiful language), but I noticed the fandom meltdown on social medias... And I really can't blame them/us, because this song and Conan's Artistry altogether are way too precious and out of this world to be misunderstood, overlooked, or *worst-case scenario*, being laughed at. Again, I have faith that the Rose will bloom when the time is right. We just have to be... patient.
Agree with you on the hand-arrow part - That moment is an emotional climax of everything and with clean, absolutely spot-on camera work will make a huge impact.

I do understand that this song might be difficult for people to listen to, but I hope that the Juries will save this outstanding song. I want it to qualify so badly!

I'm struggling to see Portugal qualifying. There are other songs that are musically poorer, but their staging is on point and enhances the overall performance. I really like the backdrop in red colours and the facades with that kind of muslim architecture, but the green of the clothes, the facial accessory and the random dancing guy who looks like he has lizard sleeves is too weird in a bad way. I can see this being perceived more as a joke entry than a serious artistic one.
